Mars and Anderson .Paak’s debut Silk Sonic track has been a huge hit after a breakout live performance at the GRAMMY® Awards, with more than 180 million combined plays on YouTube and Spotify to date.

Anderson. Paak, the other half of the R&B super-duo, previously performed in Fortnite’s Party Royale last September as part of Epic Games’ Spotlight Series before teaming up with Bruno Mars for their forthcoming debut album, An Evening With Silk Sonic.

About Silk Sonic

The seeds of the collaboration were planted back in 2017 when Anderson .Paak opened for Bruno Mars on the European leg of leg of his 24K Magic World Tour. One late-night jam session on the road unlocked immediate chemistry between them. Just before the world slipped into quarantine, Bruno called Anderson: “I have something for that idea we had back in 2017.” That one studio session grew into to a months-long collaboration, and eventually, the idea to start a band. Upon finishing “the setlist of doom,” they brought in Bootsy Collins as special guest host for the album, An Evening With Silk Sonic.

Silk Sonic was finally set free on March 5th, 2021. Within a month, their debut single “Leave The Door Open” cracked over 100 million streams and views and reeled in rave reviews, including Variety who noted it “could be a Best R&B Song GRAMMY® winner from 1974.”  After petitioning the GRAMMY® Awards to #LetSilkSonicThrive, they made their debut performance with “Leave The Door Open” and served up a powerful tribute to Little Richard.
