Slavvy Releases Smooth New Single/Video “Lavender”

Before working under the moniker of his artist project Slavvy, Miami-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Rostislav Vaynshtok was known for his acclaimed work under Abdecaf. Counting Diplo as an early fan, Abdecaf tore up the US festival circuit in the mid-2010s including Electric Zoo, Northcoast, Counterpoint. His music also received extensive praise from the likes of Forbes, VIBE, IndieShuffle, DJ Mag, and Consequence of Sound. The latter of which fondly referred to him as a “wunderkind” as he was just 21-years of age at the time of finding early success.

Now a veteran of the music industry, Slavvy returns with his new single and video for “Lavender”. Channeling a hedonistic alter-ego that delves into darker themes of infidelity wrapped in an irresistible package of smooth R&B beats, bedroom pop, and an 80s tinged vaporwave production style.

Of the track’s sentiment, Slavvy shares “Lavender is getting caught doing something you shouldn’t. You’re f*cked up, you’re cheating, you’re out behind your lover’s back, but something is going wrong.” Slavvy explains. “They know you’re stepping out, they catch you, they show up, the person you’re with is on some bullsh*t and you regret stepping out to begin with.”

The Tumblr-esque accompanying visual doubles down on those retro themes with a neo-noir aesthetic reminiscent of the cult Nicolas Winding Refn film, Drive. It’s brought to life by neon-lit, atmospheric shots of Slavvy, interspersed between intriguing shots of grainy television footage.

“Lavender” is the first of a string of singles to be released over the Summer in the lead up to Slavvy’s forthcoming EP “Romantic”.
