This contest serves to build momentum for the Youth and Criminal Justice Forum that Odyssey Impact has organized in partnership with REFORM Alliance, a coalition of committed multi-industry leaders seeking to reform probation and parole such as Van Jones, Meek Mill, Michael Rubin, and more. The Forum featured prominent activists and influencers, Pete Monsato Jr. and Jessica Jackson, the Forum provided a select group of Gen-Z’ersthe unique opportunity to speak directly to the social changemakers working to reform the American criminal legal system.

“As professional filmmakers and storytellers, I and my colleagues at Odyssey Impact have the chance to tell these stories to the world, winning awards like the Social Justice Award at the Venice International Film Festival, or the U.S.’s Peabody Award” says Nick Stuart, President/CEO of Odyssey Impact.

The competition will announce 10 winners who will have their films showcased in the Justice Film Festival NYC this November. MTV Entertainment Group has offered to match the cash grand prize, so winners are eligible to win up to $2,000, as well as the opportunity to be paired with a veteran film industry professional for a year-long mentorship.

Anyone ages 18-30 with a passion for using media to challenge injustices and inspire social change is encouraged to apply. Video Submissions must be 2 to 3-minutes long, filmed and edited on a smartphone, and offer a call to action that could make a difference in communities, in order to be in contention.
