Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Introduces ‘The Torch’ an Intimate Outdoor Concert Space

Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum introduces ‘The Torch,’ an intimate outdoor concert space within the iconic landmark. Located alongside the east-end arches of Peristyle Plaza and under the flicker of the Olympic Cauldron, The Torch delivers an epic open-air performance experience unlike any other. With its spacious, park-like feel, The Torch premieres at a time when concert-goers crave a safe place to gather and experience live performances once again.

Creating an intimate open-air venue within the legendary stadium, The Torch boasts a flexible capacity ranging from 3,500 up to 10,000 in a general admission format; the perfect setting for any type of musical performance, sporting event, convention, and more. The space features state-of-the-art production capabilities, multiple vendor merchandise or concession locations, and the footprint also includes VIP areas with exclusive entry and viewing locations for more ticket sale options.

“We are thrilled to introduce The Torch to the L.A. venue lexicon and eagerly anticipate offering a diverse selection of concerts and events,” said Teresa Guy, director of Booking and Partnerships for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. “Adding a stunning outdoor performance space to this iconic location provides Angelenos with an amazing venue to enjoy musical performances and special events throughout the year.”

Setting this venue apart from the rest, this unique outdoor urban oasis offers tree-lined lawns, classic ticket booths reimagined as a full-service bar, and the iconic “Olympic Gateway” sculpture, a tribute to athletic achievement commissioned for the 1984 Olympics. The Torch proudly celebrates diversity, creativity, inclusivity and artistic excellence, attributes long associated with the Los Angeles musical landscape, and is ready to welcome guests this summer. Adding to the celebrated atmosphere, the Olympic Cauldron, which sits high atop the Peristyle, was installed for the 1932 Olympics. It burned brightly throughout the games of 1932 and 1984 and will be reignited when Los Angeles hosts the 2028 Summer Olympics.

“I’m proud to introduce The Torch as a new open-air destination for Los Angeles concert- and event-goers,” said Joe Furin, the stadium’s General Manager. “We are thrilled to continue to innovate our legendary landmark, inviting the next generation to create lasting memories with us for many years to come.”

The Torch officially ignited with its first-ever event kicking off Friday, Aug. 13, with the anticipated Uproar Hip Hop Festival featuring Lil Wayne, Young Money, and Friends followed by the exciting Resurgence, New Japan Pro-Wrestling on Saturday, Aug 1

Next up is the 2021 MLS All-Star Concert presented by Heineken featuring Kaytranda and Big Boi MLS All-Star Fanfest with Big Boi on Tuesday, Aug. 24

Face coverings should be worn by guests who have not been fully vaccinated at all times. Face masks are available upon request.
