Kooly Bros on Their New Joint ’11:11 Featuring Lil Scrappy

What happens when you fuse the melodic choruses of pop music with the power and intention of rap flows? Well, the Kooly Bros have coined the term #PopHop to define their genre-bending music style. Originally hailing from Switzerland and now in Atlanta, brothers G Fresh and Sanders Kooly have created a name for themselves in the industry by taking everything we love about pop and hip-hop and fusing it into one. The electric duo have found themselves at the epicenter of Atlanta’s music scene and captured the attention of thousands of listeners across the globe. The Kooly Bros even secured a feature from Young Thug in their smash hit “Drunk Mess,” pushing them even further into the mainstream spotlight. From mastering lyricism to nailing their creative direction, the Kooly Bros are ready to make a name for themselves.

Take a toast to the good life in the Kooly Bros latest hit “11:11”. The easy-going, feel-good anthem is about the years spent dreaming of better days and finally being able to embrace achieving them. G Fresh’s uplifting vocals make up the infectious chorus, while Lil Scrappy (one of the stars of Love & Hip-Hop in Atlanta) and Sanders Kooly bring elaborate wordplay that captures the essence of celebration. The music video follows the theme of being young, with the artists kicking back with friends in the studio and partying it up poolside. It’s also full of small miracles by leading character J.C. that often go overlooked – but are totally integral to keeping the party going. The song is easy on the ears and sets the perfect vibe for any gathering, whether it’s with your closest friends or ordering bottle service at the club. Welcome to good energy and new beginnings with “11:11”.

How would you describe your sound and creative direction?

Sanders- Our sound is best described as “pop hop” which is hip hop mostly infused with some pop taste. Our melodies, tones, and rhythm is all Kooly and although we have our influences, we still have our own unique sound for our listeners to experience.

Did COVID-19 impact your musical craft and sound? How have you developed over time?

(Gfresh) Covid-19 impacted our music in some ways. During the shut down, we would have close friends over every night and just sit at home, drink, and make music. It really gave us the opportunity to hone in and focus on our craft. Quarantine was sort of a blessing in a disguise. It brought us closer together as brothers and brought the right people into our lives who are now part of the core Kooly Bro team. It gave us a new perspective on life, music, and our career — like it probably did a lot of people. It showed us who and what was important.

(Sanders)- Right when Covid 19 hit, we dropped a song called “No corona” and then one called “quarantine party” That was fun basically jingles about corona at the time. We worked on the Gfresh and Sanders album more and more once we were stuck in the houses at first and built stronger brotherly bonds. We have majorly developed over the years. Have gotten a little less ratchet if you can believe that.  We used to make nothing but party records but there is more that we can talk about. Every record can be a party record initially! We have learned to write more about things that people can relate to. When we first started, we were into the crunk music and then gradually included more pop elements over the years and maximized our tones, melodies, and production.

What is the significance behind “11:11”? What do you hope listeners take away from this track?

(Gfresh) 11:11 is about being positive, having faith, and believing in yourself. Once you have that, everything else will eventually unfold. That’s basically what we want listeners to take away when they hear the track.

(Sanders) I hope listeners will hear this track and realize that there is work and play but the real importance is following your dreams and happiness. If that includes manifesting your future while having some drinks, hell yeah!

How was it filming the music video for “11:11”? Any funny or interesting stories of what happened on set?

(Gfresh) Anytime we get together with our friends and family, it’s always a movie. Filming 11:11 was just another day in the life of the Kooly Bros — drinking, vibing, having fun with our Koolys. Only difference was that we had cameras and Scrappy there.

(Sanders) It was a full day and half. We kicked it off early at the studio and went till 3 or 4 am at the club and party bus scenes. I was feeling kind of winded sick hungover at the time but I sucked it up and got it done. My girls titties kept coming out of her shirt so we had to do more takes then needed in the club lol The funniest or most interesting thing that happened on set, other than trying to get 30 drunk people under control, was Gfresh getting an 11:11 tattoo on his hand in the middle of the club scene.

How did the collaboration between the Kooly Bros and Lil Scrappy happen? What was it like working together?

(Gfresh) I’ve known Lil Scrappy for a minute now — we actually met at a video shoot when I was just coming up in the Atlanta music scene. He’s always respected my grind and has been supporting the Kooly Bros campaign since the beginning. I hit Scrappy up to get on a song I had in mind for him. When he got to the studio, he heard me working on a different beat and instantly said “Yo, let me get on this one” — from there 11:11 was born. Everyone in the studio that night was rockin with it. His camp, our camp, none of us could stop singing it. We all knew it was a hit.

(Sanders) We met Scrappy back at his Head bussa video in the city years ago. We have always kept a cool relationship and once we were working on the album and thinking about features we definitely had to get him on it. We sat in the studio and came up with the hook and he loved it! he immediately started writing his verse unlike other atl rappers who mostly just freestyle. He slayed it!

What major plans do you have for the coming new year? Any projects fans should keep an eye out for?

(Sanders)We have our Gfresh and Sanders album out now! We have drunk mess video ft Young Thug out now as well as our newest video 11:11 ft Lil Scrappy. Be on the lookout for more videos from our GFS album. And definitely some more music coming 2 soon.

(Gfresh) We have a ton of stuff up our sleeve for 2022, more music, more shows, more videos, more collabs.
