Doe Dotta on how budding rappers must focus on creating unique and hard-hitting lyrics

Loui Paso fame Doe Dotta hit a chord with audiences and budding rappers alike. The NYC rapper took inspiration from legendary rappers and lyricists like Nas, Rakim, DMX, and Biggie in the ’90s. He’s earned fame and fandom for his melodic tracks, grittier drill, and lyrical, cadence-driven content styles.
In an exclusive chat, Doe Dotta shared the significance of real-world lyrics in today’s day and age. He is known for inimitably blending old-school lyrical wordplay with the new age bouncier cadences. “Gone are the days when audiences liked raps about chains and Lamborghinis. Today people want to listen to real-world problems and experiences. No one has time for fluff,” believes Dotta. “Budding rappers must focus on bringing realistic lyrics to the fore and etch their music forever in the memories of fans,” he adds.
Dotta shares that lyrics play a significant role in a rapper’s musical journey. He asserts, “if your flow and delivery are good, but your lyrics don’t leave an impact on listeners, it’s time you focus on creating unique and hard-hitting lyrics.”
As per Doe Dotta, up-and-coming rappers must think beyond rhyming. “Don’t throw in lyrics just to make your lines rhyme. Each word must carry weight and relevance to what you want to convey in a particular rap,” advises Doe Dotta. “You should rather focus on telling a story or conveying a real-world message through your raps,” he explains.
Doe Dotta reveals that most of his lyrics come from real-world experiences. “Your life experiences lend authenticity to your craft. I’m traveling deep in the jungles of Africa. And currently, my surroundings lend all the inspiration I need to write for my fans,” he concludes.
