Everything You Need to Know About Los Angeles Artist – DŸLN

Through his debut album, “BoomTown”, music producer and visual artist, DŸLN, shares many experiences of growing up in East LA.

As much as we love to listen to music, creating music is a wholesome process in itself. From the inception of the idea to going into studios to bringing together the melodies to final edits and releasing it for everyone, it is a rollercoaster and each time going up the hill of that coaster is a thrilling experience. What’s more exciting is seeing the project, which began as a personal journey, evolve into a means for people to express themselves.

West coast artist, DŸLN, found his love for creating music and dropped his first mixtape, “Flavours,” on Soundcloud which instantaneously became a hit among house parties. The mixtape went so viral that it has garnered over 60 Million plays! The artist has now released his debut album, BoomTown, including a smooth R&B track featuring 1TakeJay & Jaye Anderson called “PROUD.” If you’re in LA you may have heard it on the radio.

BoomTown – DŸLN’s Debut Album

The LA artist who grew up as a dancer and catapulted his career as a music producer from his dorm room at the University of California, Riverside. Having finally showcased his footing as a producer, DŸLN shares a message of hope and has broken down barriers with a new sound that combines R&B and loud electronic synthesizers.

Through his album BoomTown, DŸLN pays homage to various experiences in his hometown. The album paints a story with Bay Area and LA heavyweights like 1TakeJay, Rucci, Priceless Da Roc, Dmb Gotti, DCMBR, and others. It recounts DŸLN’s initial rise to internet fame, his life on tour, Soundcloud virality, heartbreak, and overall development as an artist and person.

BoomTown was composed over three years and emphasizes DŸLN’s promise as a fan favorite for Los Angeles. Track 4 “ADDICTED,” features Bay Area’s Mari Taylor and DCMBR singing about their affinity towards toxic relationships which is accompanied by a huge jersey club switch-up halfway through the track. On track 3, “CHOOSE UP,” DŸLN conveys a strong message of loyalty by recounting his traumatic experience of losing a friend to gun violence.  Rucci and Dmb Gotti, who appear on the track, also discuss the difficulties that one may face growing up in the hood. The two tracks, 6 and 7, are eclectic house tracks with rap features from the likes of Famous Uno, which is a far cry from what Los Angeles hip hop fans are used to.

A Different Music Genre

Since the beginning of the project, DŸLN’s goal has been to combine his West Coast sound with various styles and electronic elements. As a result, he was invited to perform at Insomniac’s EDC Las Vegas in 2020. His sound has morphed into a new pallet ranging from R&B to high-energy house tracks. He has headlined two tours across the US, the “Flavours Tour” and the “Ratchethouse Tour,” both of which focused on his gutter sound, as well as additional annual shows titled Flavours Fest in California and Texas.

Music became a means via which DŸLN could express himself. He receives numerous messages from people who say his music helped them cope with the loss of a loved one or other heartbreak.

Finally, DŸLN expresses gratitude that people can attach an emotion or memory of a good time with music and that they cherish memories of those who have passed or gotten through whatever they’re going through.
