Riotron Puts on a Superhero Cape in Animated Video “Drop A Bomb” FT Big Freedia

The animated music video for “Drop A Bomb” is finally out and it’s dazzling with colorful images and a fun-packed narrative. Riotron acts as a superhero who is sent on a mission by Big Freedia to glamourize people’s lives; spreading “Sex, Fame, Money, and Glamour.”

The story reminds us of David Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust,” the alien rock star who flew to earth to save it from its doom. Bowie’s omnisexual fictional persona is quite similar to Riotron’s superhero, who travels the universe to rescue humans from their dull and miserable lives.

Alex Salyer, the director and producer of the video invites everyone to his cartoon world and reveals that the song is about letting go of insecurities and dancing the troubles aways, “I want to highlight queerness in a fun, wacky and joyful way.” He adds that one of the reasons he wanted to direct this video, was working with the electro-pop artist “…because he really gets cartoons, fully embraced my animation style and is just great to work with.”

The “Drop A Bomb” video on YouTube has been viewed over three million times. It’s fun-loving and witty, dropping color bombs and adding new shades and tones to the gray world we live in. Joining forces with Big Freedia, Riotron even rolls out his magic all over the wonders of the world by painting famous monuments such as: the Egyption pyramids, the Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal, and many more.

“Drop A Bomb” also got an amazing remix by the world-famous DJ R3HAB. The song seems to take on even more vibrant flavors as it becomes a full-on EDM genre-staple. An already explosive song, R3HAB took “Drop A Bomb” to a new level of energy with some stunning drops and ecstatic synths.

Written and composed by Jeff Fettes and Big Freedia, “Drop A Bomb” is produced by Matt Malpass. The recently released single follows another one of Riotron’s hit songs “Life is what We’re living,” which featured a music video directed by Alissa Torvinen, starring Lea Thompson and Tyler Posey,  garnering more than 20 million views on YouTube alone.
