Shai Zaire Drops Video for Single ‘Dates’

Shahiem Edwards, known professionally as Shai Zaire, is a recording artist, singer, rapper, and artistic songwriter born and raised in Utica, NY. In 2022, he signed with AB The Label/Ruby Recordings, where he began his musical career. On May 16, 2022, he released his debut single ‘Dates.’ The smooth and charming song is the first release under the label since being signed.

Shai Zaire’s “Dates” is a song for those prone to using modern technology to communicate and interact. An eerie bassline pulses throughout the arrangement as Shai Zaire’s vocals pair effortlessly with the industrial elements of Speaker Bangerz’s production, highlighted by a pumping midtempo drop. The hook states, “Whatever happened to two strangers going on d.a.t.e.? That’s what it’s supposed to be, but you be trying to t.e.x.t.” Shai Zaire expressed, “The feeling a song leaves with someone is essential to me, whatever emotion I put into my music I make sure the audience can feel as well. With inspirations such as Michael Jackson, Hall and Oats, Maroon 5, Chris Brown and Bruno Mars, and Anderson Paak, one can imagine how creative Shai Zaire is.
