TikTok Sensation Nicky Nightmare Discusses His Transition Into Music and Movies

There’s no doubt TikTok has become a must-have platform for musicians. With over one billion active users each month, the potential reach for musicians around the world is huge.

TikTok star and musician Nicky Nightmare knows all too well the challenges and the triumphs of becoming a popular influencer, with over 630,000 followers and over 2.7 million likes under his belt.

Recently, Nicky Nightmare released a video for his newest single, “She Crazy,” featuring two other well-known online stars, The Island Boys, who also found fame on the platform.

So, how did it all come about?

“I just wanted to write something a little simpler that would be relatable and fun and not so deep,” he says.

TikTok launched in 2018, and in just a few short years, the platform’s popularity has exploded, particularly among teenagers and those in their early 20s. It allows artists of all kinds to be creative, tell stories and promote their brands to worldwide audiences.

For Nicky Nightmare, TikTok was a way for him to perform during COVID-19 lockdowns after playing live shows as a guitarist with cover bands.

“COVID stopped us from playing shows, and someone said to me, ‘you would do well on TikTok’, so I decided to try it. I just started an account and started making videos. I eventually went live once I got 1,000 followers,” he says.

After sitting and playing night after night, his follower numbers increased. He’s even played live concerts as fundraisers for his favorite charity To Write Love on Her Arms, which addresses mental health with a focus on treatment and recovery, something Nicky is passionate about and lives with himself.

“I am a mental health advocate, and that’s a big part of my life… I’ve done shows where we raised $6,000 to $7,000. So there are many good things about TikTok.

Currently taking TikTok by storm is Nicky Nightmare’s latest release, “She Crazy.” In this video, he collaborates with two other TikTok stars, The Island Boys – a duo featuring twin rappers Flyysoulja and Kodiyakredd.

The video for “She Crazy” is designed to be fun, and the three stars had a fantastic time filming it.

The song “She Crazy” was written on one of Nicky Nightmare’s TikTok lives.

“I was sitting there and asked, ‘What do you think of this verse?’ People are chiming in, giving their input. So I let them enjoy the process with me.”

“It came together as a simple tune – like a 90s one-hit wonder. So I mixed it, got The Island Boys on board for the video, and my friend Katie. It was a big project, a lot of work, but totally worth it. I love the video.”

While Nicky Nightmare has seen success on TikTok, he also knows it can be a challenging avenue for other musicians. He does, however, have some words of encouragement who want to pursue their passion.

“There’s a lot of competition. And there will always be people telling you to stop, but you have to keep going. I’ve gotten to the point where I was very discouraged by what people were saying. I thought ‘maybe I shouldn’t do this.’ But if you want it that bad, you just have to keep going.”

“Don’t listen to it. Don’t listen to what people say. You have nothing to lose and if your first song doesn’t do well, try again.”
