018-Year-Old KILJ on Making Music Inspired by Juice WRLD, Lil Mosey, Halsey, and More
Originally from Prince George’s County, Maryland, KILJ, also known as Jelani Lofton, entered the music scene at the age of 14 after moving to Atlanta. Despite the musical genre not usually being so age-applicable, this 18-year-old composer’s tunes are inspired by pop stars such as Lil Mosey and Halsey. He is a pioneer of new music – whatever that means.
There’s something about his voice that immediately draws you in, and his lyrics have so much meaning and are really deep. I’m excited for the next time he releases more music because I know it’ll be great! He’s got such talent and I just can’t wait to see what he does with it. The beats and vocals in his songs make me feel like I’m right there with him. His singing style is one of my favorites. All in all, KILJ has created an amazing project that everyone should listen to.
His debut song Black Hole was released in late June, followed by 95 with sadtaylor at the beginning of July, which currently has more than 1,000,000 streams on Spotify. KILJ later released one of his most popular songs called Better Off Alone which was a collaboration with Yung Divide.
Over the course of time, he has been played over 10 million times. He has been featured on prominent music sites, such as Lyrical Lemonade, ELEVATOR, Promoting Sounds, Banger Of The Day, and many more. There have since been several more successful singles by KILJ, such as No Remedy, Tracksuits, wish i never met u with Thekidszn, and Militant. KILJ is working on his first EP.
On Spotify , KILJ has over 400,000 monthly listeners, and on Instagram, he has 11k followers. I’m sure that he is definitely one of the up-and-coming artists to look out for. With millions of streams on his songs, KILJ’s sound is primarily hip hop/rap with influences from pop, funk, and R&B.
