One Man Has It All: JLShotThat Becomes an Undisputed Top Music Videographer

People have different talents. Some become the best singers, songwriters, and directors, and others, photographers and videographers. But to have one person doing it all was unheard of until JLShotThat stole the spotlight. He amazes everyone by ticking all the boxes.

JLShotThat has made a name for himself in the music industry. He is the video director behind some amazing music videos of top artists out of New York. He has become a household name in Brooklyn as a photographer, director, and music artist. JLShotThat has worked with some popular artists, including the legendary Pop Smoke, Fivio Foreign, MiG Arogan, Lil Tjay, and JI the Prince of New York.

JLShotThat is also behind some of the most viewed and popular music videos. The list is long, but it includes Pop Smoke’s platinum records “Dior” and “War” featuring LilTjay, as well as Fivio’s “Big Drip,” “Wetty,” “Drive By” and LilTjay’s “Zoo York.” Each video is captivating, with cinematic scenes that are celebratory yet overwhelming. But how did JLShotThat become this outstanding music video director and videographer?

The JLShotThat’s story dates back to the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. He grew up in Queens in a diverse family. His mother has Vietnamese and African origins, while his father has a West Indian and Irish background. JLShotThat was destined to become a respected figure in the music industry and started his career as an artist. As a teenager, he appeared in front of the camera as a Nemesis. He was part of the Castle Boyz group, which did not last. JLShotThat had a disagreement with the other members, finally going solo in 2013.

JLShotThat dropped his first mixtape soon after leaving the Castle Boyz group. It received a warm reception, bringing him into the spotlight. That was when he also learned other skills, such as singing, before venturing into photography. He also perfected his production skills behind the scenes.

JLShotThat’s career in photography and videography started when he bought his first camera. He drew inspiration from the best storytellers, including Quentin Tarantino, Michael Jackson, and Hype Williams. JLShotThat started off as a photographer but soon started shooting high-quality videos for local artists in Brooklyn and Queens. At first, he had to outsource video editing but soon became a legend in the game. With his creativity and eye for detail, JLShotThat became the go-to videographer. His work advertised itself.

The first milestone in his newly found career came when he commissioned his project, “Ex Voto.” It is a cinematic heaven-and-hell dreamscape complete with full costume and a Roman Catholic cathedral. That is what introduced him to the world as a videographer. Many appreciated his technical ability and started reaching out for his services. He first shot Fivio’s “Welcome to the Party (Remix)” featuring Jay Dee, P Gutta, and Yung Drama. Since then, JLShotThat has been working with a long list of hot Brooklyn artists.

JLShotThat has had massive success in just a year. His directed music videos have had over 200M views, 10M of which come directly from his YouTube channel. What makes him stand out is the undisputed quality of his videos, and people have come to learn what a gem JLShotThat is.
