Big Boss Vette: No Complaints

Let’s hop right into this latest single / video, “Problem” — Tell me about this particular track; how did it come to fruition?

•”Problem” was created back in 2022. It was my first writing trip in L.A., and I was so nervous about going to the studio and not coming up with anything. I was put in the studio with a dope producer and some great writers, and we made magic.

“Problem” follows on the heels of “Pretty Girls Walk (Remix),” feat. Coi Leray — Talk to me a lil bit about this record…

•”Problem” is a dope record that was created to be a club banger, and also a way for me to release any frustration I had through my art.

How then does “Problem” either differ and / or compare to previous Big Boss Vette entries?

•”Problem” Is a different record showcasing my versatility. After I released “Pretty Girls Walk (Remix),” I had the thought to follow up with a different vibe . So I went with more of a hardcore fun club banger.

As a lyricist, when you sit down to pen your rhymes where do you draw your inspiration from?

•I think of past things I’ve been through, trending topics, captions for pictures and the “TB Aesthetic.” Also, I always try not to force it. If I can’t come up with anything, I’ll call my creative minds for help.

Reflecting, tell me your whole inception into music — When did you first become interested in it? And, how did it all begin for Big Boss Vette?

•I first became interested in music back in 2014 when I first went viral for covering one of Dej Loaf’s records . After that, I continued to prop my phone up and record covers. 2019 is when I got in the studio for the very first time and actually made a song. I started getting booked for my covers, and that was the start of my career. 2020 is when I went viral during Covid for my single “Outside,” and signed to Republic Records.

Now you’re a native of St. Louis, MO, correct? So growing up in the LOU,’ who all did / do you consider to be your strongest musical influences?

•We had Nelly, Jibbs, Chingy on repeat.

In having said that, how do you classify your overall sound and / or style?

•My sound really don’t have a classification. My versatility won’t allow it. Something I can say about my sound is my accent and authenticity stands out the most. That’s something I always hear.

Switching gears here…

What do you feel has and will continue to be the key to your longevity?

•My personality, authenticity, talent, and resilience.

What do you want people to get from your music?

•I want my music to be able to uplift people when they need it, make them smile when they’ve had a long day, allow them to sing their heart out when they’re angry, turn them up while they are getting ready to go out, make them feel good about themselves, and also to understand my story and much more.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip Hop? And, even more specifically, women in rap?

•Yes, I’m happy. Women are taking over! They finally let us through the door, and now we own the building.

Do you have any other outside / additional aspirations, maybe even completely away from music?

•Yes. While music is certainly a passion of mine, I also have a strong interest in acting and performing on screen, and becoming an Oscar-winning actress.

To date, what has been your greatest career moment(s), at least thus far anyway?

•Everything has been great for me thus far. But if I had to pick, it would be me surpassing over 2 billion streams. Like I KNEW I was destined for greatness, but wow! Lol.

What’s an average day like for you?

•Well, it actually depends on my work schedule. My average day usually starts with me waking up around 9 or 10, and going to the gym to get some exercise in. After that, I usually have a quick breakfast and then either hop on meetings or start creating content. I also sometimes book late studio sessions depending on how I’m feeling. Somewhere in between that, I like to make myself something to eat or DoorDash. Once I finish content, I usually turn the TV on the ID channel or scroll on TikTok.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans..

•I call them my cousins. They’re like the family I never had. But I respond to as many as I can when I post something and they comment, I’ve recently hosted my first cousin meet and greet, and it went amazing!! I’ve also given away tickets to my shows as well. And if I have food in the club I’m booked in, I’ll pass out chicken and fries because we all eat together.

What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? And, why?

•My favorite part about being Big Boss Vette is meeting everyone who genuinely loves and supports me. That feeling is always amazing. My least favorite would be sometimes I have to book last minute flights and would get horrible seats. Lol! Other than that, I have no complaints.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

•The advice I would give would be, “Believe in yourself. Stay focused. ALWAYS Be open to learning. Build a strong network. Embrace Failure. Stay true to yourself.”

You’re currently out on NICK CANNON’S NATIONWIDE “FUTURE SUPERSTAR TOUR” — How’s this been going for you? You enjoying being out there on the road?

•The tour is amazing. I’ve been meeting very nice people and eating a lot of food. I’ve also been performing in markets I have never been in, which is even more exciting. Also, the beds on the tour bus are very comfortable so I have no complaints.

For someone who has yet to experience you LIVE, what would you tell said person can be expected?

•Expect an electrifying and unforgettable performance, filled with high energy and raw emotion. I bring my all to the stage and connect with the audience on a personal level through my music and lyrics. My shows are not just about entertaining, but also about inspiring and empowering my cousins. So get ready to be moved, energized and empowered by my music and performance.

Lastly, what’s next for Big Boss Vette?

•I’m constantly growing and evolving as an artist, and I have big plans for the future. I’m focused on creating even more impactful music and reaching even more of my cousins who haven’t heard about Big Boss Vette. Also, an EP is the works, with more music videos, content, red carpets, and much more.

Any “closing” thought(s) for our readers?
