MTV PUSH Names Chappell Roan as March’s Global Push Artist

Here’s a take on the announcement that MTV PUSH has officially crowned 26-year-old singer-songwriter Chappell Roan as the featured Global Push Artist for March. The multifaceted pop sensation skyrocketed to fame following the release of her debut album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” in 2023. Now, as she gears up for her eagerly awaited U.S. tour, “The Midwest Princess Tour,” scheduled for this spring and summer, Roan is set to open for Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS tour, in addition to gracing the coveted Coachella stage for the very first time.

Fans of Roan’s electrifying drag-inspired performances are in for a treat as she encourages them to dress up according to themes for each city on her tour, including a dazzling pink rhinestone cowgirl motif for her hit track “Pink Pony Club.” These themes not only reflect her fearless sense of style but also underscore her unwavering celebration of queer expression.

Join MTV this month as they partner with Chappell Roan to delve into her journey of self-discovery, her melodic genius, and her unapologetic authenticity.

Segment Highlights

Roan’s Creative Process

Reflecting on her writing process, Roan shares, “Melodies have always come really easy to me, but it’s great help if I have a concept that I am writing about. Finding great concepts is the hardest part for me. I am always on alert. I always have my notes app ready. It is just not easy, and it doesn’t come easily. You make a lot more bad art than you do good art. Whatever that means.”

Achieving Success in Music

Roan reveals her unconventional approach to success, stating, “The way that I started to get really successful is being annoying. I know that sounds weird, but I was just annoying all the time. I would just start bugging people: ‘Respond to me. Respond to me’ …all of these things I wanted in my career and for myself I was just like: How can I be so annoying and persistent to get this?”

Handling Fame and Attention

As she navigates the spotlight, Roan shares her feelings of affirmation and readiness, saying, “I just feel affirmed, and I feel ready. I think if this were to happen like two years ago or a year ago, I would be super, super overwhelmed right now and this would be way too hard. But I think I am just like, okay I am ready for this, I can take it on. And enjoy it! If I don’t feel ready for something, then I can’t enjoy it. I am just stressed out the whole time. So, I am just enjoying this moment.”
