Live Session: Ms. Erricka chops it up with emerging blockbuster film actor Cory Hardrict

The Hype Magazine Special Correspondent Ms. Erricka caught up with American Sniper actor Cory Hardrict for a one on one outside on a crisp east coast morning. Cory Hardrict is one of films blazing young stars, gaining facetime in blockbuster films like the aforementioned American Sniper (+$500M at the box office globally).

Over the last few years Cory Hardrict has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry through the poignant and diverse characters he brings to life on screen. From critically acclaimed independent features to summer blockbuster films Hardrict’s undeniable talent, passion for his craft, and unwavering dedication to his projects have positioned him as one to watch in the business. Throughout 2015-16 Hardrict has multiple high profile projects in the works. First, he can be seen opposite Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller in the highly anticipated Warner Bros. feature AMERICAN SNIPER. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the film follows Navy S.E.A.L. Chris Kyle [Cooper] as he recounts his military career, which includes over 150 confirmed kills. Hardrict is a scene stealer as D, Kyle’s right hand man who has been by his side through every tour of the Middle East. The drama premiered nationwide January 16, 2015. In addition to AMERICAN SNPER, Hardrict recently wrapped filming a lead role in Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures SPECTRAL, a sci-fi thriller centered on a special ops team that is dispatched to fight supernatural beings that have taken over Europe [to be released summer 2016].


Additional projects currently in production for Hardrict include a handful of leads in independent features, including: DESTINED, BROTHERLY LOVE, WALK OF FAME, and CAR DOGS opposite Octavia Spencer.



Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Hardrict immersed himself in the arts at a young age. Local film and television projects were on the rise throughout his teens, as productions moved from LA to Chicago, which gave Hardrict the opportunity to book regional print ads, commercials, and TV movies. His began his professional acting career when he landed a role at an open call for the Oprah Winfrey film THERE ARE NO CHILDREN HERE. Hardrict loved every moment of the experience and knew that in order to pursue a career in acting he needed to move to Los Angeles. With $75.00 in his pocket, he packed his bags and made the move out west.

Hardrict’s first break came when he landed a role in Fox 2000 Pictures’ NEVER BEEN KISSED and Touchstone Pictures & Buena Vista Pictures’ CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL. In 2008 Hardrict worked with Clint Eastwood for the first time, appearing in the Golden Globe nominated feature GRAN TORINO.

Switching from drama to comedy, he next appeared in New Line Cinema’s HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU, opposite Justin Long and Ginnifer Goodwin.

In 2011 Hardrict co-starred as Cpl. Jason Lockett in Columbia Pictures’ sci-fi blockbuster BATTLE: LOS ANGELES opposite Aaron Eckhart. The intense scenes between Eckhart and Hardrict solidified him as “one to watch.” Throughout 2013-14 Hardrict held supporting roles in various high profile projects including LOVELACE, opposite Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard, Summit Entertainment’s sleeper hit WARM BODIES, opposite Nicholas Hoult, Dave Franco, and John Malkovich, and Warner Bros’ sci-fi drama TRANSCENDENCE, opposite Johnny Depp.

Although Hardrict has made his mark in film, his television credits include recurring and guest-star roles on: “Eastbound & Down” [HBO], “The Shield” [FX], “Dark Blue,” [TNT], “Saving Grace,” [TNT], “Heroes” [NBC], “CSI: NY” [CBS], “Boston Legal” [ABC], “Without A Trace” [CBS], “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” [CBS], “Law & Order” [NBC], “Cold Case” [CBS], and “ER” [NBC], to name a few.

Hardrict currently lives in the Los Angeles area with his wife and son. In addition to working in film and television, he loves to play basketball in his down time, travel to exotic places, and explore new cultures while spending time with his family.
