Live Session: Zonnique Talks New Music and The Family Hustle
Zonnique is a 24-year-old American television personality and singer and just released two new singles #FCTU and Winner which were produced by J Reid, who arranged, co-wrote and produced 5 songs for Nicki Minaj’s platinum album, Queen. The daughter of Tameka “Tiny” Harris and rapper T.I., Zonnique currently stars in VH1’s hit show “T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle”, which is in its 9th season. She was also a member of the group OMG Girlz.
While perhaps known generally as Tiny and Tip’s daughter, Zonnique truly stands on her own with her music, conceptualizing and writing on her projects. Her two new joints give us an idea of the fire she has inside and her ability to get the stories out in a powerful manner. I’m down with #FCTU (F**k the Club Up) but for me “Winner” is going to get tagged as an essential Zonnique cut because she’s letting the lyrical missiles fly and doing it with finesse.
The Hype Magazine got Zonnique on the line to discuss her new music, growing up under the wing of Tiny and T.I. as well as her desire to be known not only as their child but an entertainer in her own right. She was easy to talk to and laughed genuinely througout the conversation making it one of the most fun interviews of the year for this writer…tune in!
Both #FTCU and Winner are available on all streaming platforms and you can listen to them both below as well. I think you’ll agree Zonnique has something to say and that she’s got what it takes to make an impact on the industry. Connect with Zonnique on IG @zonniquejaileeTweet
