DeJ Loaf has been teasing her fans with tracks for months, and today, she released her long-anticipated full length, Sell Sole II, via Yellow World/BMG. This album is a nod to her beginning, when she first captured the industry’s attention with her critically acclaimed release, Sell Sole. This album reunites her with fellow Detroit native Big Sean on “I Don’t Know,” while Gunna, Rick Ross, 6lack, Lil Uzi Vert and others, make appearances on various tracks.
For nearly a decade, the name DeJ Loaf has been synonymous with making hits and changing the soundscape of music. A slew of projects, singles, and guest features have solidified the Detroit, Michigan native’s place in the game as a bona fide hitmaker. Tracks like “Try Me,” “Back Up,” “Hey There,” and “No Fear” have amassed Gold and Platinum plaques, decorating a career that has skyrocketed, yet DeJ Loaf is just getting warmed up. She’s taking it back to the essence with Sell Sole II, digging deeply into the fire and passion that first brought her here. She is ready to reintroduce herself.
“Calling it Sell Sole II just felt right,” she says. “It felt like I was starting from scratch and getting that same energy back.” Arguably her most personal work to date, Sell Sole II is a musical timeline in the life of DeJ Loaf. “I’m letting them know where I was, what I went through and What happened to DeJ Loaf?,” she adds. “I think I answered everyone’s questions.”
To date, DeJ Loaf has accumulated one Billion collective streams as a solo artist and amassed a dedicated following. Her career erupted with the release of her single, “Try Me,” which went on to reach Platinum status and peaked on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts. Since then, the rapper, singer and songwriter has been collecting hits and sharing the mic and stage with an impressive collection of talent. DeJ Loaf’s voice has since been cemented as one of the most recognizable in Hip Hop and R&B music.
