Kottonmouth Kings & Suburban Noize Records Issue Statement About Passing Of Founding Member Saint Dog

The Kottonmouth Kings and Suburban Noize Records were devastated by the news of the passing of fellow brother and underground legend Steven “Saint Dog” Thronson. Saint Dog passed away early Wednesday morning at a friend’s house in Victorville, CA. The friend saw Saint struggling to breathe and called 911, but he was ultimately pronounced dead when paramedics arrived on the scene.

Saint Dog was a founding member of California rip-hop outfit Kottonmouth Kings and his trademark raspy flow was instrumental in the success of classic tracks like “Suburban Life,” “Bump,” “Dog’s Life,” “Play On,” among others. Saint Dog will be forever missed by the group and fans around the world.

Dustin “D-Loc” Miller commented:

“Your memories will never fade to black. Your voice will always be with us. He was a true legend on the mic when he bust and would become my teacher when it came to rapping. He wrote the first Kottonmouth Kings songs, ‘Bump’ and ‘So High’. We were kids that took a trip to Hollywood and got a record deal. We were just beatboxing in the club. We had big plans and big dreams when we started Kottonmouth Kings. Rest in peace Saint Dog. He is the real OG. I love you Homie; you are the king of all kings.”

Timothy “Johnny Richter” McNutt said:

“On this day I’m digging back in my memory bank and thinking about all the good times I had with Steven Thronson. All the travel and shows, insane experiences and brotherhood moments I shared with him. When shit got thick, Saint didn’t split. It’s that ride or die mentality I’ll remember most about him. I just can’t believe he won’t be ridin no more. I know how much love his family had for him as well and can’t imagine what they are going through. I bet he’s got a spot with Pakelika now. R.I.P Steven.”

Suburban Noize Records owner Kevin Zinger commented:

“Anyone that knew Steve saw what a big heart he had. Some of my fondest memories was watching Steve stop the music in the middle of a Kottonmouth Kings show to bring a handicapped fan in a wheelchair on stage so that he could have a better view of the show and even join in singing a few songs. That was just the kind of person Steve was and he touched so many people in a positive way.”

Saint Dog leaves behind an undeniable musical legacy with Kottonmouth Kings and his solo albums like “Ghetto Guide” and “Unconformable Social Amputees”. Saint Dog’s contributions to underground classic’s like the Subnoize Souljaz and DGAF’s debut album with Chucky Chuck will forever hold their place in fans’ hearts. Most recently, Saint Dog released his last solo album “Bozo” on Suburban Noize Records in August of last year.

In honor of Saint Dog the Suburban Noize label converted its Spotify Playlist into 40 of Saints most memorable songs as a tribute online at:
