Dream Big. Stay Focused with Cortlen Delva, a.k.a G-Pak

Agreeing with the quote, life is nothing but a rollercoaster ride. It is something that one has signed up for since their birth. Unlike actual rollercoasters, humans do not have the option to pass this ride. Instead, they have to buckle up and prepare for the unforeseen circumstances they will have to face in the future.

Diligence. Perseverance. Consistency. If a person possesses these three qualities, it becomes relatively easy for them to overcome the problems that life might throw at them. No one in the world has not faced difficulties. Almost every second person deals with some issues that they were not prepared for, but they have to face them regardless of the situation. Such is the case of Cortlen Delva – an emerging American musician and the founder record label, Serie music, LLC, who kept going no matter how tough life was!

Life Is Not A Bed of Roses

Nothing is perfect in this world, even the life humans live. But surviving and sailing smoothly in the rough seas of life is the key that keeps everyone going. Born on January 10, 1983, Cortlen Delva, a.k.a. ‘G-Pak’ did not have a perfect childhood.

Life had been unfair with this young boy since the start. G-Pak grew up without his father’s guidance, which he felt great. Originally, he and his mother belong to Jamaica, so he is highly influenced by the Jamaican culture.

Cortlen learned to deal with the harsh realities of life at a very young age. Being a child who suffered from eczema, things were not as smooth as they were supposed to be. Schooling was particularly difficult for him. He was regularly bullied for something that he had no control over. Music was Cortlen’s escape. It helped him develop a thick skin and turn a deaf ear to all the irrelevant and unnecessary voices that disturbed his peace. He learned that music was the only way to express his thoughts. Through lyrics, beats, and tempos, he found himself release everything that he had been holding in. But bullying and teasing by kids were not the only things he had to face; life had something even bigger planned for him. After Cortlen had completed his schooling from Boys and Girls High School, the most testing times of his life began. Life had shown him the worst, but he still had faith and did not give up.

Determination Can Fix Everything!

Learning from the experiences that life gave him for free, Cortlen in 2010 began working for his passion, music. He started as a DJ and created original tunes by playing with the rhythms, melodies, beats, and harmonies—he derived his inspiration from Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Jay-Z, and Tupac.

Cortlen had sharpened his musical skills by consistently practicing and relentless work and becoming great at singing and rapping. His hard work paid off in 2019 when he released his first single, ‘This Is It’ featuring Brooke Lynne. He shot a beautifully colored, groovy, and dynamic music video, which was released on YouTube. His video has more than 30K and counting views on YouTube and is still going strong.

Cortlen handled the adversities of life like a pro. He kept his vision straight and always aimed to achieve his goal and never deviated from it. He did not let the bad phases in life affect his thinking and career. In fact, he used it as motivation and created soulful music combined with uplifting lyrics that would inspire people to hustle more and never stop believing in their dreams.

With his dedication and passion for music, Cortlen today has his very own record label, Serie music, LLC, that he created in 2019. He has also launched his own magazine named ‘Venerate.’ He believes in being self-sufficient and self-reliant. According to him, these traits bring out the best in humans and force them to uncover their abilities and sharpen their skills. He stands by his opinions even today, as he has recently produced his second music video, ‘No Love,’ which was released in December 2020.

Currently, Cortlen Delva resides in Brooklyn in New York City and is in works with producer Charlie Active and Lokii on his upcoming EP, which will be released by his own record label, Serie music, LLC. He aspires to make it big in the music industry someday and hopes to collaborate with leading artists like Nicki Minaj, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, Meli, and Rihanna.

The struggles of G-Pak and the way he moved through life is truly inspirational. With his excellent skills in music and commitment to it, he will surely be the next big thing in the American music industry.
