Fosta870 Discusses the Art of Hustle, the Growth of Music in Arkansas, and His New Single “I Got It”

Hype: Where you from and when did you fall in love with hip-hop?

Fosta870: I’m from Osceola AR, and I would say I fell in love with music as a kid, while riding on trips to Memphis with my mother to go shopping or for whatever reason she was going. I just remember listening to different songs and repeating the chorus until it came back on, and now I  was rhyming with it, I thought that was cool, that’s probably how i catch the beat and sit right in pocket with my sound.

Hype: Who are your musical inspirations and influences?
Fosta870: I have a few but I would say mainly Nipsey Hussle and Mo3, not because of both of their demise, but because of their passion and the way they crafted the music.

I was bumping Victory Lap when it first came out and was like this a life changer, and I really didn’t appreciate the bandwagon that came after his death. Mo3 is another animal

and I would say they’re night and day but Mo3 makes beautiful and heartfelt music, I actually did my last real show with him in March 2020 right before Covid-19 RIP 2x’s.

Hype: What is Arkansas most known for?

Fosta870: Sending n***** to the penitentiary or Bill Clinton being President, one of the 2.

Hype: Do you feel like Arkansas artist can create a plan and tour like the greats such as Al Green did at that time?

Fosta870: I most definitely believe Arkansas can create a plan and tour like Al Green did at the time especially in Arkansas. I would say do the state first and grow to other states.

Hype: What separates you from everyone in your area?

Fosta870: What separates me from everyone is that I have a unique voice that you’ll never forget, I’m ready and positioned to win! I’m an On-Air Personality at the #1station in Little Rock. My music is the best coming out of the state and surrounding regions. I have dope ass videos by the best film makers in the state and surrounding areas. I had a fanbase before the radio and now my radio fanbase has noticed my music and the other they are astonished and fall in love all over again. Most Indie Label owners have the budget and the artist have the talent but with me, I have both, and a Master’s Degree to go with that. I have a clothing brand called Educated Hustle that has my financial backing and I built this all from me! I’m selfmade. I’m what a label wants, and I don’t need the money, I just need a proper introduction on the right platform.

Hype: You recently released your single “I Got It”, what is the art of the hustle?

Fosta870: Yeah my new single “I Got It” has started off right, its going crazy! The art of the hustle is me, I’m showing you how to let your gift make room for you. Educated Hustle is an art of the hustle. Just because you’re educated doesn’t mean you’re a hustler, and vice versa, but when you apply both you get me and my clothing brand. Everything at Educated Hustle in embroidery instead of screen print  because we believe it has to be in you and not on you.

Hype: Do you feel talent beat hustle?

Fosta870: Nah talent don’t beat hustle, because if that was the case, I would’ve been done blew up and many others, just like niggas in the hood, you know who can go pro because they got it in em, but most of the time somewhere down the line, they get threw off track and never fulfill their dreams, but when you got dedication and discipline and that go getter in you, you gone push yourself to become the talent you need to be, and that’s hustle.

Hype: What’s your motivation?

Fosta870: I’m motivated by black people.

Hype: What can we expect from your upcoming project, ‘OTCUTT’?
Fosta870: On my upcoming project, I’ve had to push it back a week or 2, just to build the buzz up some more on the single and shoot the 2nd visual. But in regards of what to expect, it’s very creative and dope. This is some different music. You know when you’re in the club and you lit, it don’t matter what the fuck comes on, you just bopping cause you drunk or something but let you have to go on a ride, like a road trip that bullshyt play out and you need something that does something for you and you’re listening to learn, explore, and enjoy the way these words were to put together and touch your soul.
Hype: What’s your best memory in the past decade with pursuing the music?
Fosta870: My best memories with pursuing this music is all of them really, like each one inspires the next, it’s like when you’re ambitious, after you reach a goal another one is instantly in pursuit. Basically the thrill is in the hunt, once I’ve made my kill, I’m onto the next one.

Hype: What producers would you like to work with in the future?

Fosta870: I would like to work with any producers that have a passion for music and we can create something great.

Hype: What’s next for you?

Fosta870: I have plenty coming up. The album is about to be released in a couple of weeks, but before that, I’m going to drop a 2nd visual that’s just as lit as the first one. I have the spring collection of Educated Hustle about to drop mid March 2021. I have the movie “Full Circle” that I wrote, and directed that will be released to the public in mid April. Follow me on IG @fosta870 to keep up with the shows and I also will be on Power92Jams M-F 6p-12a so you can always catch me there, so independent artist tap in, because I play indie artist and give interviews as well.
