From the outside looking in, who is D1 Bobby?
From the outside, D1 Bobby is a talented – well-minded, successful, caring, motivational encouraging young African American male. He is probably one of the most open-minded and thoughtful people you can come across.
Was there a defining moment that brought you to the music business?
What brought me to the music industry was, I was going through a lot of mental struggles. It was like I always wanted the most expensive, newest things that came out. Sometimes my mom would tell me she wouldn’t have it at the time. So I use to get mad and be like I need to get a job. I got a couple but then it triggered in my head and I was like “Mann I can’t work for nobody I sometimes don’t even wanna get out of bed”. So I told myself that I wanted to play sports, that ain’t work out. So I use to get stressed so I would smoke and rap a couple lil lyrics. I would go crazy on the lyrics so something in my head just told me take this stuff serious, and now I’m here.
Tell us about your current single
My current single is ( D1 Bobby – I’m Gone Slide ). This is probably one of my best songs I ever made. The violin is what really made me rap to the beat. But other than that, it’s out on all platforms and it’s currently at 35k views on YouTube. It’s always up tho.
What’s the most satisfying thing about making music for you?
The most satisfying thing about making music is probably the adlibs. You’re able to hear yourself and you can put more emotion on the track with your adlibs.
What do you want listeners to get from your music?
I want people to understand what I’ve been through and I want them to see where I’m coming from.
What’s been your funniest WTF moment thus far in your career?
Probably when I was in new york for my ThisIs50 and SiriusXM radio interview and I was walking around times square and I would see people doing the weirdest of the weirdest. I don’t really want to say too much lol.
