7 Tha Great Announces New single, “Light It Up”

Following a year fraught with loss, anger and uncertainty, independent artists like Dallas rapper 7 Tha Great are eager to get back in the hunt.

On Wednesday, the rapper announced May 15th as the working release date for his new single “Light It Up.” The new project will mark 7’s first major release since lockdown and one of the most anticipated of his career. According to sources close to the rapper, the record scored major co-signs from some of Dallas hottest DJ’s, promoters and radio personalities weeks before the project was officially slated.

“It’s been a minute since Caught A Vibe, everybody hungry for this,” 7 said.

While some artists used time during the pandemic for well-earned R&R, 7 stayed busy, creating content and growing his fan base – and it seems to be working. Over the last 9 months, from July, 2020 to March, 2021 7 grew his viewership on IG roughly 77%, up from 18K to 95K per post.

“Pandemic or not, me and my team push. That’s how I’m built, that’s how we built, period,” 7 said.
