London KOTC Delivers the Sound of Drill We Were Missing

Drill Music is gaining popularity, and rightly so. London KOTC is one of the artists driving this popularity.

Not everyone knows what drill music is, and that’s not okay. This style of music emerged out of the trap. The class is still new. It’s only existed for the last two decades or so. Even trap music is relatively new, which has only existed for three decades or so. Nevertheless, we predict that in the next decade, you’re going to be hearing about drill music non-stop. That’s thanks to artists like London KOTC, who are responsible for driving changes in the genre which are bringing it into the public eye.

London KOTC has worked his way up through the drill music ranks of rappers and is poised to be one of the biggest names in the state’s drill music scene. Like the cream of the crop, he has risen to become a Spotify master overnight. However, his first three singles dropped so hard they carved holes in the scene, gaps that can only be filled with more music delivered to his fans.

The Thing About Drill Music…

You see, the thing about drill music is that it is traditionally associated with violence, guns, gangs, and all the sad things related to the night. Originating in Chicago, and perfected on the streets of South and East London this style of trap music was a way of exploring all the worst parts of growing up in a harsh city. This is the type of music that explores the darker side of life unashamedly. But, of course, not everyone is comfortable with that. Those on the other side of the spectrum have lived a gilded lifestyle and don’t believe the lyrics to be accurate.

The thing about drill music is it’s all dark. There’s extraordinarily little positivity. It can be too truthful but often connects with the pain of those who listen to it. But, it can also go the opposite way and inspire hope. And that is why London KOTC is different from other London-based rap artists.

London doesn’t rap for guns or violence. Although money is an aspect of his musical gifts, it is not the main drive that sets him on this path. Instead, London KOTC writes his tunes to help him defeat the overwhelming emotions that come from being raised in these harsh environments. Writing and rapping are like therapy to him and many others in a comparable situation. He takes the pain and the anguish of the violence, turning it into something beautiful and creative. That’s something that we can all take a lesson from.

London KOTC’s Style

So, what is it about his style that sets him apart from others? London combines upbeat, cheerful tunes with lyrics of the oppressed. His songs have this conflict of positivity versus negativity, which balances out somewhere in the middle to create something unique and innovative.

Those who appreciate finding a small light in the darkness can follow London over on Instagram, where he has amassed thousands of followers just by being himself. You can find his tunes on Spotify and his official music videos over on his YouTube channel. If the only thing you do is check out his biggest hit single, No Effort, then that’s a bonus. Enlighten yourself as to who he is. He’s going to be significant in the next few years.
