Meet Chicago’s Beeware

Chicago – the city that forged revolutionary artists such as Kanye West, Common, and Curtis Mayfield – has delivered yet another artist looking to bring his unique sound to the mainstream. With over a decade in the rap/soul industry and coming up on his sixth project, BEEWARE has brought honest lyricism and touching themes that speak to current events. For BEEWARE, there is no competition because he specializes in what has been missing in music today: meaningful messages. BEEWARE is a gem of an artist looking to bring appreciation and love for all aspects of life through his latest project, After Carbon. It’s a reminder to always keep your head high even through the darkest of hours. Take a listen to any song from the album and find yourself becoming more grounded in your reality.

After spending the past two years living through a grim pandemic, everyone can relate to emotions of hopelessness and feeling burnt out. But is it possible for things to go back to normal to enjoy life once more? BEEWARE says “IT IS” is all about mind over matter. Despite the situations we are tossed into, the human mind can survive great challenges. BEEWARE’s smooth flows are matched with a feature from Angel-A’s soulful melodies. The song hovers on top of a shimmery, chilled-out beat as you appreciate the stunning aerial shots of Sedona, Arizona. Let the song wash over you, and develop a new appreciation for the beauty that surrounds you.

BEEWARE weighed in on a few things:

How has the city of Chicago impacted you as an artist?

Since our city is so segregated, so rough, yet so cerebral, and so creative. It has made me stronger, as a person, and as an artist. I know my art has to be vivid, it has to stand the test of time, it has to push boundaries. So yeah, Chicago has made me into a purpose driven Recording Artist.

Who are some of your favorite artists from The Windy City?

The greats. Common, Kanye, Lupe Fiasco. The new Gen, G-Herbo, Polo G, Lil Durk, Chris Crack.

What is “IT IS” about and how does it connect to your experiences and challenges during the pandemic?

IT IS, is about overcoming life’s struggles, whether it is oppression, or depression. It is about understanding where one’s true power comes from. Which is inside.

How did you come across Angel-A and how was it incorporating her sound with yours?

Angel-A was introduced to me through a friend of mines, an artist named Russoul. Her sound is very soulful, you feel it, it comes from the heart. So it was the perfect marriage, as I write and spit from the heart as well.

What is the story behind making the music video for “IT IS”? Where was it shot and why does this place have an important meaning to you?

So the video was shot in Sedona, Arizona. A place of beauty and serenity. I was there with my family on vacation. The back drops, landscapes and energy was so inspiring there, I knew it would be perfect for that song, It just fit. So one morning we shot it, and the result is what you see today. Also later on that day after the shoot, I learned that we had lost one of my favorite actors Chadwick Boseman, whose work is and forever will be important to the culture. So that experience and this video will always be special to me.

Can you tell us a bit about After Carbon, how long has this project been in progress and what is it about?

After Carbon, has been in the works since late 2019, It is about where do we go from here. As carbon is one of the basic building blocks for life itself, it’s like where do we go after this dramatic shift, in the way life was, and where it is today.
