Tune in | NBC News Now Presents “Black History Now,” a Special Hosted by NBC News Now’s Joshua Johnson

NBC News NOW will present Black History Now, a special hosted by NBC News NOW anchor Joshua Johnson, which aims to explore how Black history has been and is now being taught. The special airs on Friday, February 25 at 8 p.m. ET, ahead of Johnson’s primetime news program, NOW Tonight with Joshua Johnson.

Throughout the special, Johnson explores how telling the full Black story means teaching both the triumphs and the tragedies. As part of the discussion, Johnson will speak with special guests actor and director LeVar Burton on the 45th anniversary of “Roots,” Kimberlé Crenshaw, a leading scholar on Critical Race Theory, NBC News correspondent Antonia Hylton on her reporting for NBC News’ Southlake podcast and social media influencer Lynae Vanee Bogues, whose Black history videos have been viewed by millions.

Johnson also goes home to Palm Beach, Florida to speak with his mother, whom he says was the first person to teach him about Black history.

The special is the latest in the streaming network’s growing slate of original and special programming. Recent specials have included Can You Hear Us NOW?, Meet the Press: Election Night Special, Generation LatinX, Cuba’s Fight for Freedom: Patria y Vida, TransAmerica, Elevate: Success in the She-cession, The Racism Virus and more.
