ChocQuiBtown, Michael Brun and Silent Addy Join the Lineup for Planet AFROPUNK Live: Miami

AFROPUNK continues to deliver when it comes to promoting cultural exchange, bringing together members of the African diaspora through food, dance, tech, art, and stimulating conversations. A big part of that sphere is music. AFROPUNK announces that ChocQuibTown, Michael Brun & Friends, and Silent Addy have been added to the lineup of Planet AFROPUNK Live: Miami.

These new additions to the lineup of festivities add to the mission of centering AfroLatinx and AfroCaribbean communities with this event. Each artist carries their own intimate story tying into the conversation of identity, community and the power of creative expression. Grammy-winning trio ChocQuibtown have their roots in Colombia, while Michael Brun calls Haiti home and Silent Addy became a dancehall phenom traveling back and forth from Jamaica to South Florida. ChocQuiBtown

  • ChocQuiBtown’s lead vocalist Gloria “Goyo” Martínez has become one of the most rousing and conscious lyricists in Latin music. The Afro-Colombian singer, rapper, and composer has also been championing more inclusivity and equality for women and the Afro-Latinx community since her arrival in the public eye. After garnering praise from Rolling Stone, OkayAfrica and delivering a powerful and charismatic Tiny home Desk concert, the trio is carving out a lane in music that’s entirely their own.

Michael Brun

  • Grammy-award winning producer and artist Michael Brun is becoming a household name in the world of electronic and dance music.The Port-Au-Prince native is bridging the gap between traditional styles of Haitian music and electronic music. He’s already collaborated with superstars like J Balvin, Win Butler and Mr. Eazi,  and sold out  multiple headlining US tours.

  • Silent Addy’s incendiary DJ sets and behind-the-scenes work as a producer earned him co-signs from Major Lazer and Sean Paul and have established him as a mainstay in the global Dancehall scene. Between discovering up and coming dancehall artist Projexx, collaborating with Ape Drums and starting Bashment Records with fellow DJ/producer Disco Neil, Addy has created an outlet to lead the next generation of dancehall and Caribbean culture and take it to the next level.
