Who is South Jersey’s Young Kage?
Young Kage is an upcoming artist from South Jersey. According to Kage, he got into music because it helps him cope with his problems. He states, “It just blocks out everything around me. I was also good at writing stories and essays growing up I enjoyed it.”
For someone that’s independent, Kage is doing fantastic with massive numbers on his YouTube videos and on Spotify. His biggest single / music video is Go Get Em. It is sitting at 1.1 million views as of right now.
Young Kage also runs his own label named Black Royalty Ent. He states, “It’s a process with music. Have to put in the work, be dedicated & also be passionate at the same time. If it comes easy you wouldn’t want it. I will definitely be a big artist soon.”
We wanted to know more about this young lion so we got him to weigh in on a few things

From the inside looking out, I’m fearless and courageous. I do whatever it takes you know. I show love & enjoy helping other people. I’m a warrior.
What was the defining moment that brought you to music as a career?
Once I saw how entertaining I was to other people. Man, I’m like I have to do this. I could make money & enjoy something I love.
Jersey has a solid music history, how has that played a part in your sound and lyrics?
Yea Jersey has a lot of talent out here most definitely. Yes, a lot of older actors & singers came from Jersey. We need something fresh & different. I tried to go off what I see around me & things I been through. My sound & lyrics come from pain, frustration, family problems, etc.
Congrats on hitting over a million views for your joint “Go Get ‘Em”, has it really marinated with you yet that you hit this level of popularity?
Appreciate it. I would say not really because I’m still grinding and working. I’m not where I wanna be yet you know. Still have to be focused.
Having an independent label to house your music can be a solid business move for an artist. How do you balance the business side with the creative side?
Yes, it is lol. It’s a lot to keep up with for sure. My creative side just comes out easily. I do all my business after I’ve finished my work.
What was the biggest surprise for you about the business side of the music business?
It takes a lot of money & risk. Can’t be scared to fail. Also, you have to know your numbers.
What’s most satisfying for you about making music?
It keeps me hungry it keeps me going. Just makes me feel alive. Makes me motivated toward something
What’s on the slate for 2022 now that the world is heading back outside? Any festival appearances or tour dates?
I would say you still would have to be cautious. Safety always comes first before anything. No festivals for me not yet, but hopefully real soon.
Is there a full-length project you want to share with the world?
Yes it is definitely in the works
What’s the most important thing we should know about the artist/entrepreneur Young Kage?
Be ambitious and learn different things. Never let someone else tell you what you can & can’t do. Even if all the odds are against you.
