Prodigy of Mobb Deep’s solo music catalog returns to all DPS and digital merchants in its entirety on May 20, 2022. It was announced today by the late artist’s Estate.

The iconic MC’s body of work was removed from all streaming services in 2019 amidst legal disputes between the Estate, which is run by the late artist’s family, and former associates of the artist, leaving millions of fans deprived of the infamous MC’s solo efforts.

Now, with the management of L. Londell McMillan of The NorthStar Group, and following a new distribution deal with ADA, Warner Music Group’s independent services & distribution arm, albums like H.N.I.C. (all installments) and The Bumpy Johnson Album will once again be available for streaming on services like Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, and more. The albums will also be available for purchase on all digital merchants’ sites.

“We are extremely thankful to all the fans for understanding the circumstances that our family had to professionally control at a time of grief, and for the kind words of encouragement we received from many of you,” says a representative of the Estate. “We would also like to thank the community of hip hop artists who came together to help us assemble Prodigy’s last projects. The music belongs to all of you and we are glad we can make it available again and forever.”

To celebrate the return of Prodigy’s music to the platform on May 20, Spotify will launch a special Fans First activation that offers first access to exclusive merchandise.

In addition, the Estate has announced upcoming new music releases.

“In life and death, Prodigy’s impact on the culture and music remains transcendent. It’s an honor to work with the Estate of my friend Prodigy, and others who knew and loved Prodigy, as we protect his legacy and return his catalog back to the marketplace worldwide. So much more to come,” says Chairman of The NorthStar Group, L. Londell McMillan, Esq.

The new single “You Will See” off the upcoming new album The Hegelian Dialectic: The Book of Heroine drops on June 10.

Cat Kreidich, President, ADA Worldwide, adds: “Prodigy is a once-in-a-generation rapper. It’s hard to put into words the impact he had on the world – his sound completely changed the game and influenced so many that came after him. His legacy will live on forever through his music and we’re grateful his Estate has entrusted ADA to bring his iconic catalog back where it belongs – with his fans.”

One of the most iconic rappers in hip hop, Prodigy passed away on June 20, 2017 due to complications from sickle cell anemia, the disease he battled throughout his entire life.

His undeniable career cemented him as one of the most quintessential artists in hip hop history. His wordplay and delivery have been an inspiration for music fans across the globe and for the hip hop community in general. As a founding member of seminal rap group Mobb Deep, his name will go down in history as one of the greatest rap artists of his time.

He left behind a library of unreleased music which will finally become available to fans starting with the second Installment of the trilogy The Hegelian Dialectic.

Just a few months prior to his untimely passing, the seminal MC had released the Chapter One of the trilogy titled The Book Of Revelation. The project, inspired by philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel’s theories, describes the process of humans living through various stages and facts of life. Each chapter addresses one area of defining life experiences. On The Book Of Revelation, Prodigy reflected on how politics, morals, and spiritual matters affect the life of individuals. The project found the genre-defining artist offering knowledge and words of wisdom, showing much growth and maturity, a definite departure from the Infamous and Murda Music days.

In the second and upcoming chapter, The Book Of Heroine, Prodigy wrote about man’s infatuation with love, physical pleasure, drugs, and emotions. On this album, the Keep It Thoro MC explored the vulnerable side of his persona and reflected on the strong role that emotional events, lust, and infatuation played on his own existence, along with the struggle to retain control of his ego and thuggish sense of confidence. It’s a very introspective and courageous project on which Prodigy opens up to the fans about his weaknesses with no fear of judgement. It’s an honest album that embraces full acceptance of self.

The Book Of Heroine will be released in the second quarter of 2022. Three singles will anticipate the full length project, one of which drops on June 10. The rough of the album was outlined by Prodigy himself. Production of some of the songs was posthumously completed by a few legendary hip hop producers who came on board to add their Midas touches to the celebrated artist’s own vision. It’s inspiring to witness how the core of the NY hip hop community came together in support of Prodigy’s work.

The third and final installment of the trilogy, The Book Of The Dead will be released sometime in 2023, following a new album by Mobb Deep, which is currently in the works. Needless to say, Havoc will be overseeing the making of the project, in addition to handling the majority of the production duties.
