How digitalisation Has Been Changing the Media Sector Lately

Digitalization has revolutionized the media sector by bringing fast and drastic changes to it lately. The movie production industry, advertisement, live streaming services, online virtual reality sports, news delivery channels, and online gaming have all been digitised. Six digital trends have helped reshape the media industry in the past few years. Let us have a look at the details below.

E-sports broadcasting:

E-sports broadcasting is a digital trend which is constantly changing the media sector lately. With the popularity of online gaming, gambling, and casinos, the E-sports broadcasting sector has evolved from simple and traditional visualisation of sports to professional competitions and leagues. Before the age of the first game consoles, gaming required going to a place where the games were available. Since then, gaming has evolved and become a big part of the daily dose of media content we consume, with Jackpot slots being an example of an analogue mechanic moving into the digital world.

The creator economy:

Community-driven, niche-oriented and personalized media is known as the creator economy. Platforms like Tiktok, Twitch and YouTube are changing constantly by developing more personalized and community-driven content through their influencers which is replacing the mass-market content and growing in popularity very quickly. The viewer’s community is encouraged to get connected personally with the content creators.

Artificial intelligence:

Media automation, voice recognition, and recommendation are the three major aspects of artificial intelligence that have played a major role in changing the media sector lately. Netflix and some of its other competitive companies are relying on the recommendation for content delivery. Voice recognition is how media companies realise what the audience wants from them so they are working on improving their natural language algorithms. Media automation means helping the movies and music video producers to create snippets. These snippets are then turned into thumbnails and previews.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs):

The media sector has seen transformative and revolutionary changes with the arrival of non-fungible tokens or blockchain dwelling certificates. It is a technique to keep a record of digital assets. They are used to help with the sale and purchase of digital artwork, and the sale and purchase of show-based content and IP management. Another digital support that non-fungible tokens can provide the artists is to enable them to connect with their fans to release their collections.

D2C streaming:

With millions of options available in the form of digitised media, the audience is spoilt for choice. Direct-to-consumer video streaming is the top digital trend which has been constantly changing the media sector lately. This digital trend includes video-on-demand distribution. With it, the owners of the media channels have greater freedom to interact directly with their consumers without the interference of any third party.

The Metaverse:

The metaverse is a digital venue where you can get socially interconnected entertainment. Its best examples are the concerts that were organised within Fortnite, which is one of the best and the most enjoyable online games available globally. Streaming services are also part of this digital trend where you can share your movies with friends all over the world. Disney plans to launch its metaverse theme park to provide a virtual experience to its viewers from the comfort of their homes.
