The Hype Magazine hit’s the Red carpet with the STARS at this year’s Black Music Honors

The 7th Annual Black Music Honors took place in Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. The celebration of music included dynamic performances, surprise celebrity appearances and a program dedicated to honoring legends in the music industry. Two-time GRAMMY Winner LeToya Luckett and comedian DeRay Davis hosted the ceremony. 
Performers that graced the stage included Kid N’ Play, Carl Thomas, Zonnique, Dondria Nicole, Dionne Ferris, Amber Riley, Eric Bellinger, Avery Wilson, PJ Morton, Jade Novah, Keedron Bryant, Ahjah and Rhea Walls from The Walls Group, Tasha Page-Lockhart, Crystal Aikin, Sheléa, Kevin Ross and Eric Roberson. Other celebrity appearances included Tammy Rivera, Angela Yee, Raz B, Tiny Harris, Pastor Mike Jr., Trina Braxton, Silk and more!
2022 BMH Honorees began with Award-Winning Singer-Songwriter Keri Hilson, who received the Music and Songwriter Icon Award. Multi-Award-Winning Gospel Duo Mary Mary was presented with the Gospel Icon Award; Five-Time GRAMMY Nominee Tevin Campbell received the R&B Icon Award; Award-Winning Supergroup Dru Hill was recognized with the Urban Music Icon Award and a planned special performance in celebration of their 25th anniversary; NAACP Image Award-Winning Singer Karyn White was honored with the Soul Music Award, and the Legendary R&B Group The Whispers took home the Legends Award for their incredible nearly six-decade music career.

The event while brands such as Statefarm, P&G, and Cadillac were sponsors. The show was hosted by singer LeToya Luckett and comedian DeRay Davis. Among the honored were a power duo Mary Mary, Keri Hilson, Dru Hill, Tevin Williams, The Whispers, and Karyn White. Performers and presenters held a mix of the elite, including Eric Bellinger, Kid ‘n’ Play, Amber Riley, Carl Thomas, Zonnique, and more! A special attendee to the event was the entrepreneurial Emcee N.I.C.E.. It was a joy to see the incredible black talent of all shades receive their flowers as they all truly deserve.

This year’s 7th Annual Black Music Honors Award Show returned to Atlanta. The two-hour action-packed show creates a space to honor Black American artists who’ve made an impact on American music. The honorees for this year include Mary Mary, Keri Hilson, Dru Hill, Karyn White, the Whispers, and Tevin Campbell. This year, the show was hosted by Grammy Award winner, LeToya Luckett, and Comedian, DeRay Davis. Special performances include Dru Hill, 112, Eric Bellinger, Kid n Play, Amber Riley, Carl Thomas, and many more.

The Black Music Honors are presented by Central City Productions, a production company based in Chicago, IL. This production company is the home to many other shows, including the Stellar Awards and the Black College Quiz. Central City Productions is a full-service television company that produces, syndicates, and manages advertising sales for the company’s national television programs. Its mission is to develop programming designed to communicate positive, uplifting images of Black people worldwide.
