All-Star Bazaar: A Winter Festival Celebrating Black History Month
Salt Lake City, Utah is gearing up for a celebratory event this February 17th to 19th, coinciding with the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. All-Star Bazaar is a three-day event dedicated to celebrating Black History Month and showcasing the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the Black community in Utah.
Held in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, this family-friendly festival is a community collaboration supported by the non-profit organizations Beloved Community and Utah Arts Alliance. With a focus on economic development, the event aims to create opportunities for Black-owned businesses, artists, and youth to showcase their talents and connect with the larger community.
The All-Star Bazaar promises to be a winter wonderland of festivities, including a Black Art Gallery, showcasing the visual arts of local Black artists. The highlight of the event is the stunning Drone Light Show, where 150 drones will be choreographed into illuminated aerial formations, lighting up the Salt Lake City skyline.
Attendees will have the chance to participate in a Scavenger Hunt, designed to provide a fun and engaging experience with community partners. The winter festival also features an ice skating rink, a Pop Up Black History Museum and Living Wax Museum, an entertainment stage showcasing local and national talent, and a Ferris Wheel for a touch of whimsical fun.
The Black Owned Business Expo will be a key attraction of the event, providing a platform for local business owners and professionals to showcase and sell their goods and services, network, and connect with economic opportunities.
This year, as communities continue to recover from the pandemic, the All-Star Bazaar aims to provide a strategic advantage for Black-owned businesses that were disproportionately impacted by the crisis.
