0Skip Waiters – Streams of Consciousness
Skip Waiters, following his 2021 Rolling Stone & Live Nation acclaimed mixtape “Personal Stereo“, today released his debut full-length LP: Streams of Consciousness (SOC). SOC takes place throughout multiple therapy sessions where Skip touches on multiple topics revolving around growing up Black in Toronto, Canada. This is an excellent follow-up to his breakthrough project.
About the project Skip says, “Streams of Consciousness is about me as an artist and human trying to find myself, and navigating life through therapy, conversations & song. I’m searching for understanding which I gain leading to the last song of the album, it’s a 3 part album to let the listener know that therapy isn’t a one-time deal and requires ongoing maintenance. The focus track, “Mothers Basement “is a song about complacency, living under your parent’s roof comes with a comfort that could be crippling if you allow it.. lacking the motivation to chase your dreams because life lacks hardships when you always have your parents to fall back on”.
Immediately on release, the album garnered close to 600K streams across all DSPs. SOC is supported by the Canadian Arts Council, an official music video by Ryley Burghill, a digital campaign by Lafter.io & press campaign by Lisa Persaud.
