Skip Waiters Addresses The Black Man’s Psyche on Second EP: Mp3 Player
Skip Waiters is the experimental indie artist who has caught the attention of industry peers since his Live Nation and Rolling Stone acclaimed mixtape: Personal Stereo in 2021. The newcomer who provides mental relief to the ordinary Toronto Hip-Hop scene delivered his Debut EP: Compact Disc, on February 25th, 2022. Skip Waiters was highlighted on the cover of the Spotify Playlist Outliers for his now most streamed song, ‘Therapy,’ which was the focus track of the EP. Skips’ EP Compact Disc guided us through the emotional topics of Ego, Escapism, Racial Injustice, and Transparency – 4 therapy sessions on his EP.
With EP #2: MP3 Player, Skip Waiters returns to his therapy sessions to discuss the topics of Childhood Trauma, Revenge, Life Observations, Security and Rejection – 4 new therapy sessions with a highlight around the black man’s psyche.
“MP3 Player is re-opening the door first opened in Compact Disc. Therapy isn’t a one-time thing; it requires multiple difficult conversations to finally be able to heal and grow from your trauma and the things that are holding you back in life”.
The focus track Be Honest sums up the entire project as an invitation to open up, the feeling that you get in the middle of a therapy session that requires you to dig deeper and become uncomfortable to learn, grow and move forward. After hearing Skips’ personal therapy sessions, spit through deft wordplay, delivered with just the right amount of humility and strength on MP3 Player, Skip Waiters hopes there is a similarity in feeling and position that each member of his audience can relate to.
With production support from Mason Hyde, Rascal, Davati , Kingsley and Skip Waiters himself, MP3 Players aims to continue to bring existing and new listeners into Skip Waiters’ musical world. This release will be supported by a #shotoniphone14 Lyric Video & a Microsoft Music Player visualizer being released via Social Media & YouTube
