Debut EP from AwallArtist Reminds Us “Respecting Perspectives” is Paramount

Hampden (Baltimore) native AwallArtist just dropped his debut EP, “Respecting Perspectives” (having the release show just this past week in Hampden). In a recent sit-down we had, he said he decided to cast aside his default meticulous process of music-making in favor of something entirely authentic to himself.

“FOR MY DEBUT EP, I HAD TO DIG DEEP AND CONNECT WITH MY ROOTS. I HAD TO THROW ALL MY TECHNIQUES OUT THE WINDOW, POUR ALL MY EXPECTATIONS DOWN THE DRAIN & PULL STRAIGHT FROM MY MF’ING SOUL! SO THAT’S WHAT I DID.”

“Respecting Perspectives” was mixed and mastered by award-winning engineer, producer, and studio/label owner Brandon Lackey at Lineup Room Recording Studios in Baltimore. He spoke highly of AWallArtist regarding the project’s creative process, saying “Awall is an artist who knows what he wants but is also very receptive to collaboration.”  I love this sentiment and would echo that these are the best artists to collaborate with because while being particular and dedicated to their craft, they also see the magic and the growth associated with being open and malleable around other creatives.

While Awall also cited “full-force lyricism” as a driving force in his process for “Respecting Perspectives”, his infectious hooks continue to stand out for me, including that of “Freedumb” which has a visual dropping June 30th, directed by the homie Luke O’Brien. In addition to speaking on more music videos bolstering the project’s robust rollout, this is very much just the beginning for AWallArtist, as this five-song project marks the beginning of a three-year onslaught consisting of 60 releases.

Make sure you check out “Respecting Perspectives”, grab some merch,  and follow AwallArtist for more high-vibrational dope.
