Janet Jackson Set to Rock NRG Arena for World AIDS Day Concert

The legendary five-time GRAMMY® Award-winning and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame® Inductee, Janet Jackson, is gearing up to take the stage at NRG Arena in Houston, Texas on December 1, 2023, for AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) annual World AIDS Day Concert. This electrifying performance is set to be a full-length show, and it’s all in support of HIV/AIDS awareness. Tickets for this special event, organized to honor the memory of those we’ve lost to HIV/AIDS and to show solidarity with those currently living with the virus, will be available for purchase online through Ticketmaster starting on Monday, October 16, 2023.

World AIDS Day Concert

This annual event holds a profound significance, serving as a commemoration to remember and pay tribute to those affected by HIV/AIDS. It’s a platform to demonstrate unwavering support for those currently battling the disease and to underscore that the fight against HIV/AIDS is far from over.

Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe-winning choreographer, director, and producer, Debbie Allen, will grace the event with her presence as a speaker. The AHF will also present its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to the Emmy Award-winning actor and passionate activist, Blair Underwood.

Janet Jackson’s performance on December 1st follows her immensely successful North American Together Again tour, which stands as the highest-grossing tour of her illustrious career. The tour’s name, “Together Again,” is a heartfelt tribute to Jackson’s 1997 hit song of the same name, dedicated to a dear friend lost to AIDS and, by extension, all AIDS victims and their families worldwide.

The Honoree

Blair Underwood, the recipient of the AHF Lifetime Achievement Award, has been a stalwart voice in the fight against HIV/AIDS for more than three decades. The acclaimed television, film, and stage actor co-founded Artists for a New South Africa, an organization that addresses the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS on families and children throughout the African continent. Notably, in 2003, Underwood joined forces with Ashley Judd as a spokesperson for YouthAIDS, further expanding his advocacy in partnership with AHF, particularly in Washington, D.C., which grapples with the highest per capita HIV cases, nearly three times the national rate.

The World AIDS Day Concert has seen an illustrious roster of performers, including Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Diana Ross, and Mariah Carey. The AHF has also extended its Lifetime Achievement Award to a diverse group of advocates among them being Harry Belafonte, Debbie Allen, and the late Princess Diana.
