NFL star Brandon Marshall signs brother to new label

NFL star, Brandon Marshall, has always been one of his brother’s biggest supporters. Now he is helping his brother Marcus Marshall, otherwise known as, “M. Marshall,” follow his dreams of becoming an R&B singer with the launch of their new record label, “Valley View Entertainment.”

The brothers partnered up to introduce M. Marshall, and showcase his music to the world. M. Marshall is the headline artist and sole focus of Valley View Entertainment. The name Valley View comes from their hometown in Las Vegas where the brothers grew up.

“Believing in my brother’s talent and abilities is what inspired me to crossover into the music industry,” said, Brandon Marshall. “But at the same time, I wanted us to do it our way and I wanted us to have our own business.”

As far as looking into other artists for the label, the Denver Broncos player said his ears are always open, but his main focus is promoting his brother’s music career. He also said he wants to take things slow with the label and not put a lot on his plate.

According to M. Marshall, he was humbled, grateful and not surprised when his brother called him to start the label and signed him as Valley View Entertainment’s first artist.

He described the call he got from Brandon being straightforward.“You want to do everything we said we wanted to do as kids?” asked Brandon. Marcus replied “Hell yeah.” Brandon then told him to be on a plane 48 hours after they spoke.

Recently, M. Marshall released the video to his new single “Changes.”  The single was inspired by a past relationship of his, which suffered due to his busy lifestyle as a musician. Listen to the singers latest release below.

M. Marshall has been singing for as long as he can remember. At the young age of three, he first found his love for music. Once he turned 12, he wrote his first song for a school project. By the time he was 16, he was already recording his music, and he eventually made it to a major recording studio at the age of 19.

The R&B singer said life is what inspires him to create music. When he wakes up in the morning, the first thing he does is go to the studio. According to M. Marshall, his voice is what separates him from today’s artists. He describes his voice as what James Brown would have sounded like on a pre-recorded track, but a little more refined.

“My voice is a throwback to that generation and that era, but my music is incredibly current,” he said. “So I think that’s what’s super interesting about me and what I do. I’m exploring right now and I’m having fun.” Marshall is confident that once he gains notoriety, he’ll fall in line with other popular R&B singers such as Chris Brown, Trey Songz, and August Alsina.

The R&B singer describes working with his brother as supportive, and talks about Brandon trusting him to make his own decisions. “With my brother co-managing me, co-sailing the ship, it’s fun because you have two captains with two different perspectives” said Marcus. “But at the end of the day, we were raised in the same household, so we have the same goals in mind.”

On the other hand, Brandon Marshall says working with his brother could be difficult at times. “Sometimes I have to call him and really get on him about things, and the opportunity that he has and that he shouldn’t take it for granted,”said Brandon. “We got to have talks like that to keep him grounded, but he’s a pretty motivated person.”

The Marshall brothers are working hard to position themselves for success in the music industry. M. Marshall will be at South by Southwest, a music festival that takes place in Austin, Texas. He’s also set to go on tour in this month, and is working on his EP that will be dropping over the summer. “I think we’ll be extremely successful and obviously my brother will become a big time artist,” said Brandon Marshall.
