Lil Uzi Vert a new dynamic of the ‘Philly Sound’

Gold Record selling Lil Uzi Vert (@LILUZIVERT) is one of those music phenomena that hit us like a ton of bricks in 2016. Hailing from an iconic music region which birthed the term”Philly Sound” Lil Uzi is adding his voice and style to the living breathing being the term has become. Leon Huff, Kenny Gamble, and Thom Bell, in the ’70s, merged sounds and styles creating the signature “Philly Sound” combining Funk, Philadelphia Soul and the sounds of Memphis. The impact from this union has now infused itself within the realm of Hip-Hop and Vert is the sounding of the proverbial gong announcing something huge is about to happen AGAIN within music culture.

Lil Uzi’s breakthrough came with the release of “Money Longer” from his LIL UZI VERT Vs. THE WORLD mixtape and though it wasn’t his world debut, it was the catalyst for his dynamic emergence onto the music scene in a national sense. The song dropped February 2016 (Generation Now and Atlantic Records) and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) October 11, 2016, for selling over 500,000 digital copies in the United States.

His current mixtape THE PERFECT LUV TAPE®️, available for free on his SoundCloud has him lacing tracks with top producers like, Maaly Raw, Don Cannon, Zaytoven, Nard and Metro Boomin to name a few. Each of them helps Lil Uzi showcase another layer of this unique young cat.
