Smooth.  His fundamental production style makes him one of the most legendary beat-makers and disc jockeys in rap history.  Pete Rock predeceased J. Dilla and 9th Wonder.  The Soul Survivor series contain smooth instrumentals.  Petestrumentals is the basis of these jazzy funk tempos.  His coveted influence has dubbed artist like Kanye West, “the new Pete Rock.” Pete rock transcends genres and is documented as getting his flavor from James Brown, and hip hop resident elder Marley Marl.  The sampling of classic harmonies have made Eminem’s vocals a universal sound.  Pete Rock’s last collaboration appeared in 2016 as Smoke Dza’s, Don’t Smoke Rock.  A nostalgic new wave album, with Nino Brown undertones.  The Soul Brother continues to infuse soul into East Coast lyrical content.
