New Music Twista Crook County

The chopper style veteran , Twista returns with the rowdy album, Crook County.  The Chicago native entered the rap game in 1992.  His third studio album Adrenaline Rush was exclusive to the Midwest charting Gold.   Twista once held the Guiness World Record as the fastest rapper in the world.  As his 10th solo album, Crook County documents the rapper’s, Chi-town experiences.  The guest features include Vic Spencer, Cap 1, Black Youngsta, Jeremih, The Boy Illinois, and Bandman Kevo.  Twista extends on his 25 year legacy as a Midwest Chopper.

Twista’s label Get Money Gang, hasn’t pushed an album for the rapper since 2015’s Livin’ Legend.   The same year he rejoined “Do or Die” for track “Aquafina.”  Twista attempts to bridge the gap, between the golden era and modern rap.  The conflict between veteran rappers and new music is evident, however Twista produces a new sound behind the boards using Zaytoven, DJ Tight Mike, YF Beatz, and Zenzan Beats.  While Chicago is beset with crime, Twista pens an ode to the Windy City.  Crook County has been a moniker for the corruption on the streets of Chicago.  Twista embodies that talent and loyalty, is a reflection of his city, and his music.

“Next To You” featuring Jeremih was released as a feel-good track, sampling the Rose Royce soulful oldie.  It brings back the formula of popular R&B based rap.  “Baddest” is a hype track featuring Cap-1, who is well-known for album Caviar Dreams, and appropriately was the first rapper to sign with Motown Records.

Before Barack Obama, and prior to Chief Keef, Twista was Chicago’s truth.  Nowadays, the cities gun violence is an over glorified tragedy. Aside from being embedded in the city’s history, Chi-Town’s finest should learn from the  innovator, Twista. Unfortunately violence for young rappers like King Louie, who was shot in the head in December of 2015, proves the rivalries and pain seldom die in Chicago. Since that time King Louie has recovered, but the cycle continues. Known for unifying the scene, Twista has gained a lot of respect for his hometown. Still he continues to apply pressure accepting the trap rap scene on albums like his latest. He shows he’s resolute musically to rap in savage mode and continue to  be a voice for the streets.  The original “Crook County” track appeared on Speedknot Mobstaz in 1998 pinned as a diss track to Bone Thugs and Harmony. Crook County available on all digital media outlets.
