Cornelius Plus Drops New Project ‘Futureland’

Kickstarting the year with a bang, Cornelius Plus releases his long-awaited debut, Futureland, an 8-track project inspired by a fascination with the future and and leaning into the growing popularity of virtual reality, artificial intelligence and electric cars in pop culture. The music foretells a world where “manifesting” even your deepest desires is as easy as asking…. “Alexa, play Futureland.”

Speaking on the project, Cornelius notes “Futureland revolves around this idea: what if you could speak things into existence as easily as you request a song from Alexa or Siri? What if instead of just getting information, you could create an entire world with your words. For me, that world is Futureland and this project is what it sounds like. It’s the world I wanna see.”

On Futureland, Cornelius showcases rare creativity — one that lures listeners into a futuristic world where creativity comes without cost. In just eight tracks, the Bronx-born creative shape-shifts into a musical powerhouse, delivering electric vocals and colorful lyrics that describe an augmented reality. Eclectic, forward-thinking production from The Kount and Slow Valley create a lush backdrop for a journey into the mind of a rap-futurist.

Throughout Futureland, Cornelius unleashes powerful, unapologetic flows that celebrate and anticipate a better tomorrow, while also tackling the trials of contemporary society.  Themes include overcoming doubters and self-doubt, dealing with media-induced anxiety and depression, and finding love in the internet era. In all, Futureland is a fierce and joyful manifesto of creativity and individualism from a promising upstart.

About Cornelius Plus

Cornelius Plus is a rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, and native of the Bronx, New York. His journey began at the age of 13 when he began recording at studios in Los Angeles, where he lived part-time. Continuing to write and record through high school and college, he worked as a studio intern and manager, until a close musical collaborator’s near-death caused him to take his own music more seriously. After graduating college, he recorded 2016’s Bronx Zoo EP with production from Canadian producer J-Louis (Bryson Tiller, Cardi B) while also writing, producing, and honing his skills working under industry vets like Chris Gotti, Cory Rooney, and others. Featuring production from The Kount, Slow Valley, and Flume, Futureland synthesizes elements of R&B, hip hop, trap, country, EDM, and pop to form a thought-provoking, genre-bending debut from a thoughtful, outspoken newcomer.
