Pop, R&B Recording Artist NIK Releases Edgy New Single “O.D.”
New York-based R&B powerhouse, dancer and fashionista Nik Hartfield, has released her new song, “O.D.”.
The track was written and produced by Nik along with Scott (Radio) Berger-Felder (Rick Ross, Jennifer Hudson), Stuart (Mookie) Sanders from Mookamilli Ent./The White Guys.
“O.D.” is an electro-soul track inspired by more traditional R&B with a small taste of Trap/Hip-hop. The track attempts to reverse the gender stereotype of women getting too “emotional and clingy” in relationships, telling the story of Nik’s experience of a man getting too attached.
Nik was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. Having a background in the performing arts, she has always been around a creative environment. Training in ballet, African dance, tap, swing dance, jazz, modern/contemporary and hip hop since the age of five, she continues to dance today with every opportunity granted. However, music has always been a “hidden talent” of hers. She grew up singing in the church choir and even had a few solos at her performing arts center.
It was during her professional dance career as a teenager where she fell in love with fashion. Discovered from a dance company photo shoot, she was asked to model for a local fashion designer. From then on, she began to work and network with photographers, designers, stylists, and other models. Soon after graduating high school, and attending Temple University for a year, she realized that it was fashion she wanted to pursue. Transferring to the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and moving to New York City exposed her to various opportunities, including interning for Zac Posen, working/attending fashion shows during NYFW and interning for Isaac Mizrahi. Today, an FIT Alumni, she is now pursuing a career in the music industry as a recording artist. Throughout everything, music has always been a silent passion of hers.
Nik’s music is a mixture of R&B, Pop, and Electric Soul. With the smooth, soft tones of her voice and the hard-hitting beats, you will get the classic “Nik” sound. She wants to create music that you can just vibe out and relate to. She listens to all types of music but she draws inspiration vocally from artists like Beyonce, Brandy and Aaliyah.
Since 2016, Nik has been signed to record label, Guardfather Entertainment, based out of New York City. Her debut single “Love Me Crazy” was released in early 2016 and has seen great success throughout the U.S. and internationally. It received major radio play on SiriusXM: Venus and on several radio stations out in the U.K. #LMC even managed to reach Top 10 on the U.K. Urban Charts (Music Week Magazine). Shortly after, Nik released the official remix to “Love Me Crazy” in collaboration with FooR, a well-known group of music producers based in the U.K.
Today, Nik is in the studio recording and putting together an official project to release early 2019.
