Songstress Emeryld Calls Out All Those That Doubted Her in Music Video for Latest Single “Young”

Announces Upcoming EP ‘Young’, due out 5/24

Still from “Young” Music Video

Dallas-native singer-songwriter Emeryld proves age is just a number on her latest single/music video entitled “Young,” an R&B/Pop-tinged record produced by DZL. The single is the lead track off her forthcoming EP, ‘Young’ due out May 24.

Emeryld found her inspiration for the record drawing from her own personal experiences as a young singer who throughout her career has constantly battled with the industry’s influence and pressures to conform to their few of the traditional pop-star. “Young” is her response to all those who are critical, skeptical, and attempt to control how expresses herself. The track is the singer’s way to emphasize that she has nothing to prove as an artist to anyone, but herself.

The effortless and fun female-lead Brady-Bunch-styled visual stars Emeryld’s closest friends, focusing on their inner-beauty. Being a fully independent artist, Emeryld felt creative directing and styling her own video was a statement in itself, further proving she is the pilot of her own life and won’t take “no” for an answer.

Emeryld’s forthcoming 6-song EP ‘Young’ (due out May 24) is a colorful journey with a constant tone of independence and coming-of-age in different scenarios and metaphors sprinkled throughout the project. Her inspiration for this project was from life experience telling her story as a 21-year-old woman in the music industry in Los Angeles dealing with condescension, love, doubt, and self-exploration.

As an independent artist, 21-year-old Emeryld’s pathway to building her career doesn’t lack the ups and downs as she’s beyond proven to put in the hard work and not allow any obstacles to stand in her way. At age 17, she dropped out of high school and uprooted herself to LA in pursuit of diving head first into the music industry as a budding, young artist. She struggled with managers and producers that pushed her in a musical direction (aka Top 40 Pop) that she wasn’t comfortable with. LA turned out to be tougher than expected, as she often found herself couch hopping and accidentally sharing an apartment with a prostitute.

After two years of tough times, Emeryld finally built up the courage and decided to make music her own way, to make music that I identified with. Her mission is to inspire young women to create their own path, and let them know that sometimes it’s OK to go in a different direction than outside influences push you towards.

Emeryld has worked with iconic producers and artists on her upcoming project ‘Young,’ who are taking the industry by storm right now, such as Earth Gang, Jeff Gitty, Yakob, DZL, Chris McClenney, and Sad Money.

In her short time in LA, Emeryld has released an EP and 5 singles toppling nearly a million streams. Emeryld has also had the opportunity to perform at some iconic venues and festivals such as SXSW, Austin City Limits, Soho House Malibu, Live Nation’s One’s To Watch, and The House of Blues in both Los Angeles and Dallas respectively.
