VERONICA FUSARO – ‘Lie To Me’ : Video for New Single by Swiss Singer Songwriter

“Full of soulful tones and warm Motown-esque arrangements, ‘Lie To Me’ is a gorgeous new soul pop release. The track is a beautifully intimate and playful number, showcasing real

emotion and a lush, engaging vocal. There’s a touch of Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith and even a bit of Lana Del Rey in there, but also something fresh from a young musician pushing

boundaries among the infectiously slow, waltzy sounds.”

RECORD OF THE DAY

In the quiet remoteness of her home studio in Thun, Switzerland, 22 year old singer songwriter Veronica Fusaro has developed a distinctive soul pop sound over the course of two EP releases.

Her first new single of 2019, Fusaro states that ‘Lie To Me’ is “inspired by a Friday night out, but talks about much more than just a weekend. It addresses the rapidity of the world we live in and our desperate cry to find real emotions.” The song sees this young musician skilfully balancing the depth and playfulness of her pure, powerful yet intimate music.

A video for the song is available now. Filmed in Marseille, France, Fusaro adds: “the weather could not have been better for this shoot, capturing the nostalgic feeling of the song and elevating the meaning with beautiful pictures.”

Influenced by the likes of Frank Ocean, Amy Winehouse and Lana Del Rey, Fusaro first stepped into the spotlight in 2016 with her self-produced EP ‘Lost In Thought’ and surprised the Swiss music industry by winning the ‘Demo of the Year’ at the prominent national M4Music Festival held in Zurich and Lausanne. Also awarded ‘Best Talent’ by the national radio station SRF3, she was subsequently nominated at the Swiss Music Awards in 2017.

Touring ever since, Fusaro’s music has matured and gained her many new admirers along the way. On stages large and small, from New Zealand to the UK and back to Switzerland, she has captivated audiences by building sound structures with live multi-instrumental loops, or simply by standing at the front edge of the stage playing her songs using just her guitar and affecting voice.

Her second EP, ‘ICE COLD’, was released in the spring of 2018 and she performed a single from it entitled ‘Better If I Go’ at the Swiss Music Awards in Zurich and the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. In all, Fusaro performed almost 150 shows in 2018, with other highlights including a Clash magazine curated showcase at The Great Escape festival in Brighton.

A further 2018 single entitled ‘Venom’ helped ensure over 500K plays for Fusaro’s music on Spotify over the course of the year, while 2019 is set to be even more exciting with the announcement of ‘Lie To Me’ as the opening salvo from a brand new EP to be released in the autumn.

‘VENOM’ REVIEWS

“Tackles the metamorphosis of love into hatred and the sensation of sudden paralysis that can generate. Heavily jazz-influenced, she manages to throw in some hip-hop beats and vocally she develops the power you’d associate with the likes of Shirley Bassey”

GOD IS IN THE TV

“A haunting slow melody with dramatic pauses and captivating vocals. For such a young artist, Fusaro has copious amounts of soul and feeling that she injects into her music”

THE NATIONAL STUDENT

“Jazz-influenced synths and ghostly vocal stabs provide the bed for the raw power and emotion of Veronica’s voice, backed up by hip hop beats and sub drops that add weight to the mix”
