Lulu James unveils captivating official video for new single ‘Zim Zimmer’

Lulu James has dropped the official video for new single ‘Zim Zimmer’, out now following premiere with Complex earlier today.

Turning her talents to directing the video, the back-to-your-roots style visual see’s Lulu reconnecting with her cultural heritage by revisiting the Arusha tribe she grew up in, bringing her creative ideas and vision to life. The video is a perfect match for the track itself, a collaboration between DJ MAX, Rudimental’s Amir Amor, local musicians and the Masai warriors of Lucas camp in her hometown. ‘Zim Zimmer’ is a product of Lulu going back to Tanzania to reconnect with her family, her roots and the music – returning with a fresh new sound that bridges the two worlds.

The video has dropped just five days after the single’s release, with Lulu’s hotly anticipated ‘3rd Culture Kid’ EP set to be released this coming month.

Swapping Kilimanjaro for South Shields aged just six, Lulu’s scintillating voice saved her from what was a turbulent upbringing. She has previously collaborated with some of the world’s most revered DJs and producers on her more electronic-oriented releases, including Gorgon City, Jon Hopkins, Kidnap and Lane 8.

Her atmospheric vocals and powerful performances have also taken Lulu to some of the world’s most renowned stages, including Glastonbury, WOMAD, Coachella, Red Rocks and London’s O2 Arena

The visuals for ‘Zim Zimmer’ are an ideal pairing for a track that sees Lulu James explore her heritage.
