Hunid Gets Personal On Brand New Single ‘Too Bad’
Hunid releases a deep emotionally charged track, channeling his inner thoughts. Sharing with us his recent trying past, with new single “Too Bad”. I had a chance to sit down with Hunid to talk more about the track and what it means to him.
“Too Bad” is a story of how I became focused on self care, both good and bad after an exhausting emotional breakup”, said Hunid about the brand new single. While being in a serious relationship for so long, Hunid felt like he was doing everything he could to keep it going; even if it was not going well. In this relationship, Hunid explains that he feels like he lost a piece of himself and it wasn’t until afterwards that he realized. “I focused so much on taking care of someone else that I did not take care of myself.”
After the break-up, Hunid did everything in his power to try to repress the pain. Buying luxury items, excessive partying, and even sometimes abusing alcohol to help cope, which was his way of escaping a problem he didn’t want any more involvement with. Although the collection of these things helped at the time, it was only a temporary solution. “I was at a low point in my life and the only way to get out of it was to grow as a human being.”
Hunid then decided to book a 12-hour studio session to let the emotions loose the only therapeutic way he knew would help at the time, to see what would come out and if that would help lift the burden that was on his chest. With finished beats that were floating around his computer waiting to get vocals, Hunid circled back after the tumultuous relationship and came across one in particular that he really attached to. Feeling the pain running through him and bringing back up sour memories, the instrumental allowed him to lay down his thoughts and detail this rough time creating the substance for the single “Too Bad”.
“It definitely took a while to write the lyrics for “Too Bad”, it was the first song that I wrote after the breakup. The whole process from songwriting to the final mix was a mental journey. I learned a lot about myself that I never knew and even rekindled a lot of friendships that I lost. It has been a couple of months since the break up and I finally feel I am in a better mental state now than ever before. In the end, I realized I overlooked my own well-being and learned a lot about myself in the process. I now can see clearly, giving me the confidence and ability to learn while growing into the man and artist I was always meant to be.”Tweet
