New York Based Nigerian Afrobeats Rising Star Taiyel Releases Defiant New Single ‘Enemi Say’

After having broken through one million plays last year, the Brooklyn rising star is excited to kick off 2020 her triumphant and defiant new single titled ‘Enemi Say’, released via independent label Dem Gully Entertainment and serving as the first single from Taiyel’s upcoming debut EP, scheduled for release later this spring.

Enemi Say sees the Afrobeats artist and musician in braggadocios and rebellious mode over the infectious bass-heavy musical landscape, as she addresses her detractors, using the opportunity to remind anyone who wants her to fail that they’re fighting a futile and losing battle, because of her “power of persistency” – a perfect nod to the success of her last single of the same name.

Influenced by Afrobeats greats such as Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, as well as legends of African music like Brenda Fassie, Angelique Kidjo, and the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Taiyel is successfully making a name for herself within the international Afrobeats scene, having developed a style that is uniquely her own. The Brooklyn based rising star, who has been writing songs and producing music ever since she was 15, is fast becoming revered for her catchy melodies, witty wordplay, captivating delivery and quirky artistic flair that is attracting an ever-growing fanbase.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Enemi Say’, Taiyel says, “it speaks to the values of persistency and it is about that feeling of triumph and defiance in the face of people who want you to fail as soon as they see you doing good, without considering how hard you’ve worked to get even a sliver of success. ‘Enemi Say’ is a song for everyone, because we can all relate to chasing our dreams, and facing opposition and obstacles from others. This song reminds me, and I hope you, that even if people want you to fail or expect little from you, if you have the ‘power of persistency’, you will be triumphant”.
