R&B Powerhouse Saneit Releases Long-Awaited Debut Album “Fantasy”

The time has come – Saneit’s highly anticipated album entitled “Fantasy” is now available on all streaming platforms. The Chicago native has amassed buzz by providing a contemporary and unique twist to the traditional styles of R&B. Recognized by networks like Essence and Hot 97, she has quickly proved herself to be an artist on the rise.

“Fantasy” includes her previous singles “Poor Connection,” and “Give Love to Me,” where we got to experience her love, loss and longing. The album itself keeps you guessing; starting with an intro of Saneit’s vocal reassuring her listeners that what they’re about to hear is unlike anything they’ve heard in a while. And thankfully, she wasn’t lying. Quick to follow, “It’s My Birthday: Legend” kicks off the album on a fun, upbeat vibe. It easily makes you feel like you’re in the club, celebrating self-love while surrounded by your best friends…because life is just too short to be stressed. This song will definitely be playing on repeat later. The tracks to follow take on a more serious tone, but the overarching concept of self-love doesn’t stop. Saneit’s confident vocal delivery inspires as she proves that her worth is not to be compromised by a guy who isn’t prepared to earn his way in.

Uniquely, she divides tracks with short messages / skits that humanize the album in a very relatable way. Often times, music has the tendency to create a non-stop ‘escape’ for listeners, but Saneit’s short skits make it a point to pull you back in almost to be like “hey don’t forget who you’re listening to…now here’s a little more of my heart.” She gets deep with tracks like “The Hate”, where she talks about manifesting dreams & how just because you know a lot of people, doesn’t mean they’re all your real friends. While I’m listening, what stands out to me the most about Saneit’s sound is how flawlessly her very fresh and contemporary vocal delivery pairs with traditional R&B instrumentals, blending old school moods with new school vibes.

About halfway through, my favorite skit entitled “He Ain’t It Hotline” goes “Ladies, no more emotional internships. If you know you’re qualified for the position, why are you still playing temp? Honey, quit acting like he’s the CEO of the relationship.” Seamlessly transitioning into her track “Boss Up”, Saneit empowers her fellow women to practice the same level of self-love she exudes throughout the entirety of this album. This one definitely hits home. The album begins to wrap with tracks like “Miss Yo Beat” where Saneit gets personal about a failed relationship, reflecting on a decision to mix pleasure with business which clearly, didn’t work out. Wrapping the album with “Need Somebody” was a strong choice – often times, female musicians who are empowered, encourage independence in a way that if taken too literally, can cause them to isolate themselves from others because they’ve adopted the ‘I don’t need nobody” mentality. “Need Somebody” is refreshing because while “Fantasy” is beautifully filled with confident themes, Saneit reassures us that, it’s okay to have somebody in your life. Being independent doesn’t mean you can’t invite anybody in. It just means that no matter what, you can rely on yourself.

Overall, this album offers depth, fun, reflection, girl power, with a little bit of heartbreak sprinkled in. Musically, it gave me hints of nostalgia hidden behind very modern sounds that truly are unique to Saneit. Having performed LIVE for Jennifer Hudson and opening for Megan The Stallion lets you know that this girl is making all the right moves with all the right music. I believe it’s only a matter of time until we see her name in lights. Saneit, you’ve officially got a new fan!
