Created in lockdown, Zay takes inspiration from the global pandemic with the vision to produce music that will resonate with her listeners. ‘First Thing I’ll Do’ is driven by a bedroom pop style and complemented by R&B undertones led by her silky vocals. Her goal is to create music that portrays her most authentic self, whilst also preserving its originality.

Zay explains: The First Thing I’ll Do is a song I made in my bedroom during lockdown. I wanted to give people and myself a little hope during the difficult situation – a sort of a “We can do this” anthem.  I also love that my 12 year old sister was part of my creative process for the single and curated the music video.

With the ability to speak and sing six languages, Zay’s musical journey began from a very young age when she started singing and songwriting songs in English, French and Arabic. Her keen interest in music was encouraged by her parents who bought her a guitar at the age of 13, which she taught herself to play. Not long after, she produced her first official song in French called ‘L’Oppose’ which garnered an array of support on YouTube which hit over 200,000 views.

In 2018  Zay released her debut single ‘Cry In A Benz’ under Swedish sub label Sony Sweden Linc, and has continued to receive widespread acclaim for her music. Her latest singles ‘Worth It’ and ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ garnered an array of support from radio stations across UK, France, Germany and Saudi Arabia, as well as BBC Introducing Yorkshire which led to Zay being asked to perform at Countryfile’s BBC Live Introducing stage in 2019.

As a budding artist with a flair for creativity, Zay is an artist poised to become a leading light in the British music scene.
