0Songland’s Tim Halperin Creates Moving Video for New Single
Recent Songland contestant and former American Idol (Season 10) finalist Tim Halperin has created a touching video to accompany his new single “Heaven Down.” The video features pictures submitted by Halperin’s fans of babies born during the coronavirus pandemic.
Showcasing his strengths in gracefully transitioning vocal tones from warm, husky lows to effortless, airy falsetto, Halperin delivers a stirring message of hope breaking through in a time when it has been hard to find. Lyrically, the song is about Halperin and his wife bringing their daughter into the world in May during the pandemic. The new single is a collaboration with artist/composer Roary. The track conveys Roary’s unmistakable ability to paint a warm, vibrant canvas of piano, strings, percussion, as well as some fun surprises, namely a gospel choir and brass section during the final chorus.
On an Instagram post, Halperin stated, “Bringing our daughter Elliott into the world has been a ray of hope in the midst of these uncertain times. We realized this narrative is so much bigger than us, so I want to invite you into this release.” He goes on to invite picture and video submissions from fans who have had babies during the pandemic. Over two hundred submissions came flooding in, and the resulting video beautifully captures the dichotomy of hope against the current landscape of uncertainty.
In addition to being a finalist in the Season 2 premiere episode of Songland in April, Halperin has seen his music used in a slew of TV shows lately, including America’s Got Talent, All American, The Hills, and Teen Mom. The latest Apex Legends trailer also featured a song of his.
With a penchant for raw songcraft, Halperin is hoping “Heaven Down” will breathe some hope into a world that needs it desperately right now.
