Who Is Keturah Hamilton?

Keturah Hamilton began her career as a model and now is an actor. We had the opportunity to sit down with Keturah and talk about her career and experiences.
What led you to pursue a career in modeling?
Growing up in Jamaica as a little girl, my friend Wendy and I used to play dress up and create our own little beauty pageants. That’s when I realized I wanted to be a model and I still like to play dress up! LOL
Tell us about some of your experiences as a model?
Omg lots of experiences, the highs and the lows. The thrill of being in front of the camera and meeting people. My most memorable experience is when I was discovered and stayed at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. It was a dream come true for a little girl from Jamaica! Jamaicans would sey big tings a gwaan . LOL
How difficult was the transition from modeling to acting?
My transition became easier when I realized that acting is craft that requires a unique skill set. I take the work seriously by investing in coaches and putting in the hours it takes to learn the craft.
What career do you like better and why?
I love both career paths. Modeling is about being in front of the camera and giving the photographer or client what he or she wants. Acting is a bit deeper. You have to work on yourself to bring the character to life by digging deep and living and breathing it. As Konstantin Stanislavski said “Work on the character, work on oneself”
Are you a trained actress?
Yes, I am a theater trained actress. I am currently studying under master teacher and mentor Gloria Gifford. Gloria is relentless and has changed my life tremendously. I want to mirror all the great actors who come from theater such as Cicely Tyson, Viola Davis, Denzel Washington, Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Cary Grant, Lynn Whitfield, Diahann Carrol, and the list goes on.
